Trying out the new Motion Book upload option DA just announced. It was pretty clunky to work with the first time, and I wouldn't dare try to make anything animated or fancy just yet, but it IS extremely simple if you're just uploading JPG stills of the pages.
In order to clean up my account a bit, I think I might start re-uploading my comics in this format (the ones that are complete, anyway), and then deleting the stand-alone pages. BUT that depends entirely on your guys' feedback! What do you think about these motion books? Are they easy to use? Can you all view them just fine?
If I can get better at using it, I might consider using these Motion Books to upload ALL of my comics from now on. It's certainly a lot less headache than trying to link all the separate deviations together, plus you can VERY easily navigate all the pages for each chapter, which is a BIG plus. Of course, that would mean I would be posting entire CHAPTERS of each comic at a time. Which means I wouldn't be able to follow a schedule throughout the week, but instead post the whole chapter every other week or something. That option has its pros and cons as well. You'd get less frequent uploads, but when I DO upload, you'd get an entire chapter at once, so the story would flow much more smoothly as you read it, since it's just like how the manga-ka's of Japan do it.
ANYWAY, let me get some feedback from you guys in the comment section here! I would make a poll but I'm not premium anymore OTL

Well, because it IS a comic, then I would hope that anyone who favorites a page and wants to see how the story unfolds, would consequently add me to their watch list, and be able to favorite this deviation as well, now that it's available. I just don't want to clog up my gallery unnecessarily with duplicates on the off-chance that someone has favorited a specific page and would be upset if I removed it. Sorry if that sounded mean or anything, I don't want to be mean. It's just going to bug me if I have duplicate deviations in my gallery, mostly.

Very nice. It's easy to use, and rolls smoothly enough. I wonder if other people are using Motion Book on dA much? Would this catch on, or has it already?

seems like a few people are using it already. I plan on using it henceforth for my comics because there were always two major things that bugged me about posting comics on DA:
1. Posting even a short chapter is at least 20 pages, which means 20 deviations. There's just a part of me that was always bugged by having that amount posted here. Maybe it has to do with the way DA makes every deviation seem important and therefore impress that the space it takes is considerable. Not that this is a bad thing, but for comics, it's more about the whole chapter, the whole story, not the individual pages. That's what it means for me anyway.
2. Linking between pages was a terrible terrible thing. I've figured out a system now to do it quickly, but it still requires having several tabs open and lots of running around just to get the pages connected so that maybe my readers can follow the story with a decent amount of ease. Obviously with motion books this isn't a problem. All I have to do is link the chapters together.
So that's the main things I like about it so far. The actual program to create the motionbooks is a bit clunky, but for rigid, static comic pages like mine, it's very simple to assemble them.

It's good to know that DA has made something to allow you to put whole chapters all together as one deviation.
Though it may be "clunky" now, they're bound to improve upon it with time(Or, at least I HOPE they do, for you, as well as all the other users of Motionbook).
One question, though. Do you plan on using Motionbook with any more of the deviations you've already posted? Like, for say, your PMD-Explorers work, or your other Naruto based work? Or do you plan on using it just for your future work?Β

Yeah, I really do hope they will make improvements on the UI for the program. And I plan on reposting any of my comics which have completed chapters as motion books. This will help me clean up my deviation library a lot, as well as solidify those chapters as completely finished, so I don't have to worry about them any longer. Beyond that, I do fully intend to use motion books for most of my comics from here on out, as it solves a lot of issues that I used to have with Deviantart's setup in its relation to comics.

It's loading fast enough and everything? I want to make sure there aren't any loading problems with these things. That's about my only real concern with using these for the rest of my comics in the future. Every motion book I've looked at on DA has the same size format, so to make the pages bigger I guess I'll just recommend viewing them in full screen mode? Other than that from my side it seems to work great. Let me know if it's different for you!
