What?? Two drawings in one day? I know, I'm just cool like that
I really like how this one turned out ^^
Behold, the first SpiritSong wallpaper!!
At least, I think it is XP This is the first one I've made for the purpose of being a wallpaper, that is. Feel free to use it if you want ^^ And you don't have to, but it'd be cool if you told me that you were gonna use it for that, just to make me feel all warm inside :3
So, as you may have noticed, I'm endeavoring to draw each of the new characters of SpiritSong at least one more time each, in color, to give you guys a better feel of what they're like. First it was Ayasha (mostly) and Kitchi, and now we've got the infamous Haruka and her water phoenix, Magenta. I think I've said it before but yes, there's more types of Phoenix's than just fire XP
This is titled "So Far Away" because the name "Haruka" actually means "Far Away" in Japanese. Clever huh? XD I named her Haruka specifically for that reason, and you'll see why once you find out more about her.
So who is this person called Haruka? Why does she look so sad? Is that Valor City in the background? What does all this mean???
Haruka sure is a mysterious woman... Kukuku
BTW, this picture was colored in the same style I'll be using for the comic

You're very good at drawing clothing, I love her top and I want her jacket, the force lines you've incorporated into the mountains really creates a sense of roughness about the place plus the lighting of the sun shining through makes the setting more dramatic

Improving... definitely you keep improving, as for womans chin I think that you already left that behind and just for the record some womans actually have big and masculine chin... lol keep getting better man.

lol yeah, I can see how her chin could be a little smaller, but I don't think it's all that bad. I was mostly just concentrating on trying to make her appear older. She IS like, 38, after all XD
And actually, yeah, water phoenixes CAN walk on water XP They can also melt into it lol

and about the chin thing is that most of us are familiarized with the idea of womans been soft and so the lines tend to be soft

So is this a means of travel in Lyrica, by phoenix? If so, that would be positively awesome, though also cold and windy. The closest thing to them in this world are cassowarys, which cannot fly but are very territorial and can kill people with claws on their toes, so I guess they really cant be compared to phoenixes. Speaking of which, are the phoenixes sentient in this world?

Heh, well it used to be the main means of travel XD But, after Phoenix Village was Muted, it soon became rare to see someone riding one of these birds. Most people just drive places, like we do XD
And phoenixes ARE very smart and very clever birds. They can understand human language very well, but they don't actually talk XP

I think you should make us a good background tutorial, since your always turn out way too amazing. =nodnod.=
Also, I'm trying to figure out.. Do you blur your shading at all? o.O

Hehe, glad you like ^^ I dunno about the tutorial though XP I'm not really that great at backgrounds yet
And yeah, in some places I blurred the shading to give it a softer look, like on the bridge of Haruka's nose and Magenta's beak. The colors for the wing and the feathers on Magenta's head were done with a soft brush I use.

You do realise that Magenta is a shade of red, right?
Anyway, I love the shadowing effects on Haruka's face and neck. You're still making the girl's chins too big though. Women's chins tend to be narrower and more pointed. If their chin is too wide they look masculine. Please don't think I'm critisising here, because I've had the exact same comments on some of my work.
I like Magenta's eyes and crest... Shiny.

Wow.. once again you floor and amaze me with level of art skills! I really like how you put a lot of realistic depth and distance with this piece. It's almost like looking at a photo in some respects. I love Haruka's wistful, yet sad expression. It is as if she's reflecting on the once beautiful land, and is filled with regret that she didn't, or hasn't done more to protect the place that she held so dear.
Magenta looks sad also, as if the phoenix shares Haruka's pain and sadness... but for some reason is also comforting this wanderer. Haruka also looks like she's leaving something or someone behind... like she's saying goodbye...
All in all... this is worthy of another VCFD!
(Of course I know who she is.. but I won't tell..

lol and you might be closer with your guesses there than you might think XP But of course, I won't say anything more. Haruka's got a pretty big role in the story, so I gotta guard those secrets carefully.
