My half of a trade with *szilviabead (I'm looking forward to my earcuff!) she wanted a pair of black armwarmers and chose this pattern herself (found at [link] )I'm not sure if this is a common problem or not with knitters, but recently I've been finding most patterns either boring or repetitive, and in most instances they get severely modified or I make my own instead. This particular pattern however pleasantly surprised me, not only did I find it a comfortable challenge, but I now desperately want to make myself a pair!
The gloves in the photo are properly black, but they've had to be bleached a bit so that the detail of the cables can be properly seen, it would have been a shame not to.

It was complicated enough to knit! Lol, don't worry, I know what you mean - cables like basket weave although easy to do, just get lost in themselves...

They did! It was a 24 pattern repeat, which is one of the longest I've done!

It was dpn's, I've never thought of doubling up circulars, that would have been a lot easier!

It's truly a gorgeous pattern. I like the way the cables "knots" around. She really picked a good pair of gloves!
As for the pattern... I think that at some points we have to invent and edit them, either way we end up doing the same thing over and over (I'm not into knitting yet but I can grant you that I find some crochet pattern really repetitive).

I think that at some point all pattern looks similar... the stitches are the ones we know... it's up to us to invent something new!
