The red on baby blue in this photo is very eye catching.
I would have used a longer depth of field but that would make this a totally different image. The sharp berries and the out of focus bird make it more interesting than the typical bird in a tree photo.
However, the fact that the birds body left of the center branch is crisp detracts from the effect.
The tone of the sky in the background is very cool and the image as a whole lends itself to wandering around the photo away from the subject.
I find the photo interesting, natural; almost more like i would really see it than a usual all in focus or subject in focus photo. I would recommend perhaps photoshopping some blur onto the birds body left of the center branch to match its head and see if it makes it any better.

The limitation to three colors (four if you count the brown-grey tones of the branches and the bird) make this interesting. I agree that I'd like to see the bird's body "fuzzed" out a bit if it could be done without drawing attention to artifice. It would at least be interesting to see whether or not such a move improved things or not.
A fascinating image as it stands, though, for many of the reasons Darryl describes.

This is truly beautiful, although the camera blurred most everything but the berries(?). Knowing that the bird can fly away at any time, it's fine ;D

Well doesn't he look just content as could be? Nice contrasts in the image and nice shot of the little birdie, thank goodness for zoom!
