The series fairly got a lot of hate from those who though she was being too whiny, but I felt her unhappiness was quite fitting. She never asked to be the Slayer, she never asked for her life to be changed like it was, all she could do was face it and accept that she had a destiny to fulfill despite her personal feelings.
It's never easy to accept a life where there is little chance of a 'normal' life, but it's always the life that has the most to live and die for.

I think the main reason the series got hate was because at that time, it was a very new concept, they were not as many TV shows and movies about vampires, and especially slayers, as there are today. I am sure most of the haters had never actually seen the show and were just hating because they were not prepared to give something new a try.

It was quite the series and is still a thousand times better than what passes for a vampire themed series now. Like the character of Spike, and Anya with her rabbit phobia, Xander, Willow and more. It was quite the series.

Most definitely, after all, it is how Twilight should have ended.

I WANT- and if anything the meaning of that was from the 1st slayer telling her her love would lead her to her gift, that death was her gift, which meant her love would lead her to her death. which is more powerful a meaning then most on the show, aside from her own quote- "The hardest thing in this world...is to live in it".

This being her love for Dawn, if I am correct? She saved Dawn's life. I have that quote in this folder, on the image of Buddha.

for both dawn, her friends, and the world itself, seeing as it was about to end unless the ritual had the related blood it needed to close the gates again. this is a slayers ultimate sacrifice in the end- their love for others and for the world is what would always lead them to their deaths- for they always do what they can to protect what they hold most dear to them, family, friends, loved ones and the world they live in...
