Description

Summer is drawing closer! Are you ready?

I wish these costumes were available in Ace Attorney 5. Sadly they were only featured in "turnabout reclaimed" in a cutscene D;

Athena had the cutest pirate costumes. They were wasted on those cutscenes D:

Just a silly comment. You needΒ  a larger crew; the ship looks kinda empty ': |

I always adore your linework, it's very fluid and so good!
I don't really know the characters, but the setup is really cute, and I love the background!

i tell ya man i tell ya, you gotta work on your posing some more! look up tutorials and stuff

for instance in this case, the big issue (a classic one at that) is that you don't oppose flexed and contracted limbs
this means that usually, you'll have the bent arm (lets say its the right), and the opposing leg bent (the left leg), cause it's what's most natural for us humans to do since it keeps us in balance in most positions
this also means that even for a very dynamic, in-movement pose (that isn't necessarily in balance) you'll see oppsing limbs being flexed/contracted, because we simply unconsciously move that way

so yeah thats one thing to keep in mind, among the maaaannnnyyy rules and suggestions there are in character poses
ill say it again, look up posing tutorials and maybe even try to get your hands on a book called "FORCE: Dynamic life drawing for animators" which goes into a lot of detail
alternatively, there's this thing www.pinterest.com/characterdes… which is an amazing source of references for all kinds of things, so you can just look around and study the poses shown in it, notice what makes em work etc

apart from all that though your shading is fine, though i would've liked to feel a harsher sun (ie much more contrast, make the darker shades pull towards blue a little bit)

looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!

.....dude that's a long comment. My issue is not exactly what you mentioned. It's a way bigger more serious issue :'/. My issue is that I never do life drawing and never draw on paper anymore (not joking) or simply put : I don't draw enough. If I had to seriously apply myself I would do things totally differently and I'd probably quit my job to spend time to improve. Sad thing is that I'm aware of it

im pained to learn that, but the idea isn't to make excuses, but rather to make solutions

one thing the comes to mind right away, and its a thing i do
keep a block of post-it notes and a pencil with you

that way you can draw people in the subway, on the bus, whenever really
and still, do consider that link/book i sent ya its good stuff, it really is

Β I've done that in the past and stopped after a week. I have thought about all of this before y'know, and I just repeat myself. The only time I do sketches and studies is whenever I stream, why do you think? because it gives me pressure to actually do something. There are no excuses, it's me just being an indecisive fuck with solutions sitting 'au bout de mon nez' ....:/ and this goes beyond just art. If you wanna continue this convo i'd rather do it through private messages if that's ok

yeah so this is a private message, doesn't really change much imo since no one's gonna dive into a dA comment thread but whatever

in any case dont worry man, everyone procrastinates, and you would have to be pretty fucking crazy to draw whenever you have free time, all the time
the idea of my suggestion is to make you draw at times when you're really not getting anything out of the moment other than boredom
to get yourself motivated, you could take requests (half-assed doodle requests of course)
then (for me at least) you feel like you shouldnt dissapoint, similarly to when you do a stream

believe me i do nothing whenever i can, but there are ways to make you move your ass
they're just specific and individual is all

Last summer I did a 500 faces challenge, I stopped at 50 during the course of 2 months. Probably wasn't my thing.
I've discussed with my girlfriend (she serious about art) and the best solution for me would be to draw together. That would keep me motivated, I need more pressure and/or social interaction.

that might work for you and i hope it does

another thing that works for me is that i follow a bunch of really good art blogs
that way just opening up my dash i see tons of really cool stuff and it makes me wanna draw, be as good as them

in any case i hope you find something cause you've definitely got potential

That is one sweet background man. Those colors just breathe life into everything, so much better than a dingy brown. It works with the characters!

Guiltily gonna admit I've never played an Ace Attorney game though

And you've just given me reason number 37 on why I should have bought the latest Ace Attorney game by now.... although I've spoiled it a bit for myself and the games plot is gold and a half!
