Description

The first concept sheet for Huxley 2-III-D didn't contain all of my ideas, so I went to a second page and drew them. These are locations around Huxley 2-III-D which might be important in the future.

The boarding school is based visually on the one in Heart of Thomas. It appears in my notes as the place where various upper crust Huxleyans were educated. Year 24 pastiche has to appear at least somewhat in all of my art.

    As for the sanatorium?

That comes from an earlier draft of 2-III-C-Delta-Gimmel, where the story was about Brutus Laurentius Magnus emerging on Huxley III 400 years after his original time and place, getting in trouble w/ the law, and spending at least a month in institutional limbo at a rural sanatorium until his passport and time travel story could be confirmed. The narrative was going to be very high concept, very serious, and focused on overbearing states of depression and erotomania (not nymphomania, what 2-III-C-Delta-Gimmel deals with), with a visual and narrative style similar to El Incal and the Promised Neverland. After the first issue finished storyboarding, I realized that it would be too constricting, as I had overdeveloped the plot structure and what would happen at each successive stage, at which point I spent maybe two months in conceptual limbo before settling on a slice-of-life black comedy originally modeled off of Eraserhead, though the influence and ideas have sprawled out much wider since then.

The ruin is for an idea which had been developing in my notes for some time, of the legendary ancestor of the baronial House of Tripoli, Amadeo di Tripoli, a 13th century Siracusan pilgrim who, upon reaching the Holy Land, was gifted the secret of Immortality and lives forevermore as a nocturnal vampyre at the edges of the Human imagination. The one drawing of Amadeo that I have looks far too close to how Yu~ki looked in Klaha-era Malice Mizer, so I'll work on my own to make a more radical, Bram Stoker's Dracula-ish design in the future.
