'Half A World' sounds really great, and it's indeed very fitting, although I personally connect it more to Pey'J than to Jade. The lyrics remind me of someone who knows how it's like to be on the run - not only the actual getting away, but how the feeling of such a life is.
The art itself isn't perfect, but it evokes one feeling for me: peace and company. They just don't sit under the same tree next to each other. They sit with each other, together enjoying the day. The detail of the cable and ears buds to the S.A.C. fits the device, and adds to the picture's atmosphere.

True! It could fit either one. But this list is based off my weird music tastes. I'd love to see some other people's fanmixes, though. Both to learn what songs other people associate with the fandom and to just find some new, awesome songs.
Drawn art isn't my stength, but I'm glad it gets the feeling across! ^_^ I'd like to imagine SACs can play music, among their other functions. I can just imagine Secundo complaining to Jade about her music choice.

D'oh, I asked a question on the other posting and the answer was right here in this one's description! HI I AM LEE AND I CANNOT BRAIN TONIGHT LOL
I like this mix. I'm not familiar with a lot of the songs ("It's My Life" and "For What It's Worth" notwithstanding; I remember when the first one was all over the radio), but the artists are familiar, at least. I'll listen to the mix when I have more time (I'm right up against my bedtime).

Well, I mean there's nothing on there that makes me say "What the hell?" But yeah, I can't give an opinion any deeper than that until I listen to it, obviously. And I've got a pretty strong stomach for weirdness (I actually bought the Squiddles album, for just one example), so I'm sure I'll enjoy most of it. XD

Maybe you'll be saying "What the hell?" after a listen. Though, not being super-familiar with the source material, who knows?

Not so much "What the hell" as "I do actually like this". XD
It's rather '90s, actually. It reminds me of the Austin Powers soundtracks; a little bit retro, a little bit modern, a little bit somewhere in between. I actually do miss the days when post-grunge and punk-ish stuff still got airplay; it seems like the rock station here is permanently stuck in, oh, 1999 or 2000 because of that, because no one likes Nickelback (and if they do, they either have no shame, or they don't like to admit it) and there's only a few bands even making that kind of music anymore, apparently (Kings of Leon comes to mind).
That Winnie the Pooh song made me cwy. And I really liked the Rob Thomas songs, but then I've always liked his songs. The only real outlier I've heard so far is "A is for Action"; I'm not really sure how it fits, but it's an interesting song nonetheless.
And I really like the sentiment behind "Stay With You". Awwwwww. ^_^ Same for "We Belong Together". I've never heard it before (I still need to watch Toy Story 3, dammit), and, wellΒΈ awwwwwwww. XD

It's funny; my formative years were the 1980s, but I find myself connecting a lot more with the 1990s now than I do with the 1980s. The late 1980s in particular feel like a distant memory to me; while I do remember bits and pieces, if it happened before I got my GE radio in December of 1990, chances are I'm not going to remember it too well unless it was a big deal. I hardly ever listen to 1980s music anymore, despite having grown up on it, and if you ask me what my favorite year ever was, it would be either 1991, 1992, 1999, 2008 or 2011, with honorable mention going to 1998 (yes, even with the relationship drama). Worst would probably be 1989 (family drama), 1996 (flunked out of college), 2002 (more relationship drama), and 2010 (stresssssss). 1990 was kind of bittersweet, so it doesn't really fit in either category, but I remember it well nonetheless.
The early 1980s are so embellished at this point that it's probably easier for me to point to YouTube promos of old NBC and ABC ads than it would be to actually try and describe anything. I watched waaaay too much TV when I was little.
I still have that radio, too, and it still works! It's a little beaten up, obviously (living in dusty, non-air-conditioned Palmyra in the care of a teenager who replayed tapes a lot wasn't good for it), but the radio and tape both still work fine. Not bad for something that's now 20 years old.
That's actually one of my favorite episodes of Todd's show; he's at his best when he's picking apart a song and talking about its deeper meanings, and his year-end best of roundups are really good about that. Speaking of which, it was also really funny when Kyle yelled at him for not doing that in the "Sexy And I Know It" review. XD
Oddly enough, my therapist loves Nickelback. Unironically. She's gone to their concerts. I think it's incredibly weird, but I don't rib her about it because really, giving people crap for liking weird music is so high school it hurts.
Ah, I see about that song now. I haven't played BG&E, but I gather that Jade's an intrepid reporter bringing down a corrupt government, so it makes sense.
I WILL SOON BUT NOT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I NEED TO MAKE DINNER AND GO TO BED.

I was alive for one-fifth of the Eighties. That's the only claim I can make to it. The 90's is when everything went down to me. Can't say I have a favorite year, though. Not that I don't love my nostalgia, but I try to live in the Now and not dwell too much in nostalgia. I will say, however, that 1998 is the year in which a lot of my favorite things came out. 1997 too, but '98 has Pokemon, which... is kind of its own argument, really.
I had a Fisher-Price tape player/recorder combo that lasted a ridiculously long time. Not quite the same thing, though.
Nickelback isn't too bad, really. Just kind of bland. Speaking of Todd, I've recently started watching a lot of the Rap Critic's stuff. He's one of my new favorite people on the site! Not just because he's funny, but also because he is so adorkable it hurts, and also because he doesn't accentuate the negative like most Internet reviewers. He often gives songs good reviews, regardless. He actually gave one of Shaq's rap songs a 5/5 score! He liked it because it came from a really genuine place for Shaq, and was very identifiable... and him being all happy made me go all "YAY." So few Internet reviewers are willing to engage in open happiness, so I love it when it happens.
And yes, that's a pretty apt description of the game. Quick-as-quick rundown of why I chose each song:
1. It's about alien abduction. The alien bad guys... abduct people.
2. Explained already.
3. Fits well with pig-guy Pey'j's feelings toward his niece/ward, Jade. He loves her, but you definitely get the feeling he has some trouble keeping up with her, and she worries him sometimes...
4. Just a nice ass-kicking song, for when the plot really kicks off.
5. "We're being duped by the government!" Just like in this song.
6. One intrepid girl reporter setting out to expose a conspiracy and cause a revolution. Simplez.
7. Technically, I think it's about someone with a disability, but it also works for people with easy amnesia, which is what I'm using it for.
8. This fits with one of the saddest scenes in the game, a statement akin to "the bluest part of the sky."
9. More "The government is evil YAYZ!"
10. Protest song! Woo!
11. It involves evading guards and destroyed homes, which are both part of the game.
12. I actually put this one in more or less for the pun, because the trope the pun alludes to is part of one of the game's more notable scenes. But Jade admittedly does have that battered-and-bruised emotional state going on throughout the game's second half.
13. This game is awash in sad scenes, but the scene I matched this song to is probably one of the most heartwrenching things in any game.
14. In this song, the world is effed up, people realize it, and RISE UP! WOO!
15. This song fits well with Double H, AKA "The one I always draw because he's amazing." To skirt the backstory, he's super-dedicated to Jade and he's now not just trying to save the world, he's trying to be her faithful friend as well.
16. A song of unity and strength for the entirety of Team Jade--herself, Pey'j the pig-guy, Double H the soldier, and one snarky AI named Secundo whom I never draw because his face foils my pen.
17. Spoilerific, definition, make the gamers go loco.
18. Admittedly the lyrics aren't a perfect match, but the atmosphere is a PERFECT match for the final cutscene.
19. A sickeningly perfect match for the end credits Photo Montage.
B1: It doesn't fit. At all. Except for the pun.
B2: "Together, we can change the world" is the general theme of the song, but it's in French.
B3: It's a general themesong for a "battle couple," which only works for shipping purposes but does work nicely with the game if you ship within it.

I wish I could live in the now more. And I wish I didn't feel like I have to apologize for my past all the time. :/ I guess years of feeling like I'm damaged goods of some sort have made it so that I just kind of dump all that on people whenever I need an excuse for being overly forward or not forward enough. I'm a much better person than I was in 1992 or 2002, and I shouldn't have to justify that, should I?
Rap Critic is actually pretty cool, though I have to admit his style isn't as fast-paced as Todd's, and part of the reason I watch TGWTG is to keep me awake at work on days when there's absolutely nothing happening. RC's voice is so mellifluous that I'd probably pass right out. That said, I do like his style, and I've liked his crossovers with Todd so far.
The songs seem like they fit really well, given that context. Probably my favorites in this whole mix are the ones about team unity and camaraderie, but then, you probably saw that coming a mile away. Not that I mind intrepid reporters and bringing down The Man and all, but really, what good is a world where you don't have friends or family?
Also, a photo montage? That's one of my favorite tropes, and that increases the "d'awwwwwwww" factor by at least 20%.

It's not a world at all without friends, that's what! Also, fun fact: I proposed and created the TVT page for photo montages. Go me!
Constantly apologizing for your past, though, is a way of dwelling in it. You tie yourself down to your past actions, and the fact that you constantly apologize for them suggests that they are still relevant, and that you are incapable of moving beyond them. It's fine to apologize, but once you hear the phrase, "Apology accepted," it's time to move on.
I'm a sucker for a mellifluous voice, I admit. In a recent Runaway Guys vid (AKA "those people who are like my crack"), one of the guys sung maybe four bars of "White Christmas" and, oh my god, I pretty much melted. Said guy has a nice enough voice normally, but his singing voice is an unexpected knockout. He's untrained, but you can tell that if he practiced, he could win the world over with his pipes.

Indeed it isn't! And I remember when I went through and organised it into sections waaaaaaay back in 2008 or 2009. It was one of the first major page edits I ever made on TVT.
Well, I guess that's because, to some extent, they still are. :/ In particular, I still beat myself up about not having been better friends with that one girl from high school, probably because I ended up putting so much of my post-secondary life on hold pining for her when it was rather pointedly the wrong thing to do. I wish I could have done better, and I guess I wish I could still apologize, but it'd be awkward and probably even offensive to someone that, as far as I know, is happily married and would be about as eager to shuffle me out the door as I am to stop worrying about her. It's baffling, too, because I really don't feel any attraction to her anymore...just mounds and mounds of self-loathing for not having been a better friend to her.
Good singers are always a plus to me, as well. There's plenty of women I've liked simply because I liked their singing voices.

I was agreeing with you, I just phrased it funny. I need to stop doing that.
The thing is, most of the time, it doesn't even bother me anymore, but I still have times when it comes back for no reason and upsets me. It's just as disagreeable and as frightening as it sounds, and the only thing that works is basic relaxation techniques and telling myself that it's not important and that it's just my brain trying to be difficult.
But if I'm in the thick of it, it'll make me sound like I'm still a hard-headed 15-year-old, and I really hate that. It's too bad, too, because I'm getting better at recognizing when I'm genuinely upset about something and when it's simply a panic attack and I should relax.
One of the reasons I started watching Linkara, aside from his reviews, was his singing voice in the Harvey Finevoice review. I still feel a little...uncomfortable, let's say...watching the song at the end.

I think not talking about it might help you. If you don't write about it, you won't focus on it, I don't think.
Also, if you read the update in my "weird dreams" journal post... I think you'll see the effect hot-voiced Internet people have on me. Suffice to say, Internet people with pretty voices played a role in a dream... XD

Atta boy.
I'm trying to think up names for the protagonists. For Vlogboy, I want something normal-sounding-for-the-modern-English-speaking-world, but not overly common. In the fleshed version, he has two friends named Django and Fatima, so he needs to be normal to contrast them. I have no clue what Fangirl should be named, but I don't want it to start with an F, because I don't want her to be confused with Fatima.

Ray. There's another one I forgot. And William is probably off-limits too.
That's kind of why one of Vlogboy's supporting characters is named Django. It's another rather French name that you don't hear too often in the states. Also, it's a roundabout reference to Ratatouille, since Remy's best friend is named Emile. And I was going to go with Remy first, before deciding it was too blatant. I instead went with the name of Remy's dad.
