Description This is one of three final illustrations for my Intermediate II Illustration course. I chose to pick three different Native American coyote myths/folktales and make one illustration each. Each illustration was done in a flat color style with detailed linework.

This illustration is of the Coyote and bluebird. Bluebird had turned himself blue by bathing in the Blue Lake for five days. When Coyote say Bluebird's beautiful feathers he wanted to know how he could be beautifully blue too. Bluebird told Coyote how he bathed in the Blue Lake every day for five days. Coyote did the same and on the fifth day he turned blue. Coyote was so captivated by his own blue coat that he couldn't stop looking at himself. He ran off to show the other animals his coat. Since he was not looking where he was running, he ran smack into a stump and fell to the ground, and Coyote's blue coat turned the color of the earth.

Beautifully drawn. That is also a new story to me, and one of the better slapstick-types I have come across. That must have hurt.

I am so envious of how you've matured with your art. I only wish i still had inspiration to draw.
