I got my hands on a new A5 sized Hahnemuhle "the grey pad" and decided to test it out. And what better to do that than a sweet little black kitten in soft surroundings... the first thing I did - as we do - was to turn the paper over and draw on the back because my brain be like " whoooo the back looks so much more smooth" and that's how I wasted an hour of my life... note to future self, the back of papers is NOT ment to be drawn on, nomatter how tempting it looks there was some sunken cost fallacy mixed in there as I noticed that it wasn't bright and contrastful as I wanted it, in about 15 minutes. Taking a brake and coming back to the drawing after drinking a cup of green tea was a god-sent (I hope it's that word). It became a test paper and I started kitty all over on a new paper, this time on the front side. That's how we learn, folks. That's how we learn..... * sighs *

I'm beginning to notice what colors this grey pad likes, and with ones it refuses. The thing has a life of its own! It does NOT like the color black. I was using Museum aquarelle, although I started with Luminance. Those suckers wouldn't stick so I changed tactics and grabbed the M.A.'s. The very black black however, wasn't doing the trick. That's rare. I had help from my now trusted uni posca pencil, a bit of both black and blue. Otherwise this would have been no black kitten but grey kitten.
