Description
On this soft pastel on Colourfix paper, I was trying to capture the conflict in the old Mujahideen warrior, with the past and the future as he reflects. I used an abstract background to create a tension between the modern and the past. Hopefully I have given the dignity to a people who have pretty well seen it all and continue to experience even more changes.Related content

No, soft pastel are more like chalk and not oil based.

Well, you did it again Bob. How do you tolerate doing all of that detail? I have to say that I love the green sweater... as well as you're wide range of color use. How do you like that pan pastel cake thing? Work for ya? I would like to see you draw something with multiple subjects with some kind of different composition...not to say I don't like your stuff.

Bob, this is another wonderful piece! That outfit, that sweater... wow! Those textures are incredible. This is a very good subject too. I enjoyed your description, and I think the colors in the background work really well for what you intended them to do. The orange clashing with the blue is just like the past and present fighting each other in these people's minds.
