Description I'm annoyed the head is out of focus, but other than that I'm pleased with this shot! This blue tit hovered before landing on my hand, as he wasn't quite sure about me
I'll try this again some time.

It's a pity the focus is on the legs rather than the head, this would have made a really perfect shot...

One thing you should consider is getting a tripod and a remote for your camera (a cheap chinese wire remote will do the job - I don't trust wireless stuff that much). The tripod would allow you to set up your camera in a fixed position (even outside the door under some cloth or something - the birdies would soon adjust to its presence), possibly with the focus manually set in advance, and the remote would eliminate the akward lefty hold (and the associated shaking ) while allowing you to shoot from cover. Using the burst mode might also prove useful ("spray and pray" method - also applies to machine guns ).

Yes, it is a bit of a pity!

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll be getting myself a shutter release, for both this and reverse lens photography!

very good shot, are you using tripod for the shot or is it hand held?

Thank you!
Hand held, in my left! (I'm right handed )I had to stand behind a door, in order for the birds to come near with my hand sticking out. I took the photo behind glass (the door has glass in it) So it was a very awkward position!

For a left handed shot from behind a door, through glass it is extremely good.

If you feed the by had regularly they will become accustomed to coming to your hand, which would make the shots easier. Also if your camera supports a remote shutter release and you have a tripod, you can set the camera on the tripod at a fixed focal length taking the shots with the remote trigger.

Keep up the fine work
