You probably won't appreciate this comment very much, but I would rather be honest with you. Straight from my mind, nothing about this picture talks to me. The colourscheme and scales are weird, and the focus is too advanced for me to understand. I don't understand anything about this picture... I will keep my not-so-nice-words to their end here.

I understand, there's little to stop the eye from wondering all over the photo, which isn't a good thing. I think if the brightness of the blurred flowers at the top weren't as bright, it'd work a bit more, and the flower in focus wouldn't be "overcome". We wouldn't learn if we didn't make mistakes!

Thank you! I reversed my 50mm f/1.8 for this using a reverse ring [link] , a cheap alternative for a macro lens, but you can't adjust the focus

thank you so much for all the help and tips, really really appreciate, been looking at the 50mm lenses and now seeing this picture it is definitely in my wish list, first I think I need to learn to use my cam and the settings etc. like do you set the shutter speed on manual, or tv mode? sorry bombarding you with so many questions

That's okay! I always use manual mode, as I find that the camera can sometimes get it wrong, and it allows me to be more creative
