Description A new watercolour I did today of the Tay Rail Bridge in all it's glory. Did this more for practice than anything else really ^^.

I remember reading about the disastrous original Tay Bridge when I was little...the one that had a flawed design, and ended up collapsing in a powerful storm in 1878 when a passenger train just so happened to be crossing it, killing all the unfortunate passengers and crew aboard the train... Quite a tragedy, but unfortunately, this is how humanity learns from its' mistakes. We often have to fail spectacularly before we can succeed...

It's a very magnificent looking bridge though. Would definitely like to see it in person someday

If you like the Tay Bridge, then you'll love the Forth Bridge

This is really good. The precision and perspective of the bridge is wonderful, and the shadows under it are just right.

The little sailboat is just what the open water needed.

My only criticism is that the foreground is a bit dull. Some variations in the shoreline would add interest (like wetter sand closer to the water.) You also could add a bit more definition to the shadows in the hills across the water.

You seem to have a natural affinity for watercolor, and I think you should get some good watercolors, brushes, and paper and try doing some work with multiple layers. (i.e. apply one color in a light wash, let it dry completely, and then add another.)

They do. You draw with them and then with a paintbrush and water you then add the watercolour effect ^^
