Gah!! I swear i keep making these longer each time!! But that's also because i want to make sure i leave on a good note...Anyways finally succeeded in making the next half of Borrowertale. Looks like it'll take more time for Frisk to trust others still..and someone has made their return! How long was Frisk out for??

Actually in this AU are monsters still after human souls for the barrier or do they need something else in this AU? If they do need human souls wouldn't Papyrus want to capture her then for basically being a 'little human'?

And i consider this AU a little separate from the main plot. and i don't know about the souls yet though. I've been playing by the ear for this comic rather then planning too much ahead. Which usually ends up being the best way for me to handle this comic.

Well, I think Chara said that for some reason. Maybe they were afraid that monsters would hurt Frisk? You know, it's been many years since they died so things could be different since then. I like to imagine Chara living with monsters (despite their BIG difference), and being like a part of their family. Idk. It's just how I see things xD

Where does the name "Borrowertale" come from exactly? This is quite interesting. And to be honest, I feel like it actually meshes with the original Undertale better than many AU's.

Well the borrower part, is based of the borrowers. A species of tiny beings who live commonly in the floorboards or wherever and usually taken and borrow things that larger beings normally miss.

And as for the meshing, yeah. Some of the AU's seem to fixate on some aspects of the game that are not really inline with the original idea of it. (at least the way I perceive it) Thats not to say that they are bad or anything, or that I consider them less worthy to exist or anything like that, but I feel like some AU's just feel more Undertale-y than others. There are some that have all the same characters and all that, but just dont feel like Undertale at all. This one actually feels like it works with the original feel/message. And I like the bit with Chara in there, implying that there is some standing mistrust between G/T and all that. (Or maybe it is just Chara who feels that way) Either way, it plays into the original message of acceptance that the original Undertale has.

Oh i think i get it. So you don't like AU's that go outside or stray away from the original source material like Undertale. I think i feel the same way when that happens actually. Some AU's do a better job at keeping the value and morals and structure that Undertale was built up on. I think that less Undertale-y feeling happens when someone tries too hard to make their AU stand out from the others. And while writing, creating this i feel like it's the characters that are writing the story, not me. All i did was change the scenario, slight setting, situation and this is the Frisk's, Sans, Papyrus's reaction to it.

That pretty much nails my preferred AU. Changing the situation/scenario, and see how the characters react to it. Some people will change everything, the characters, the scene, the scenario, character traits of existing characters, all of that stuff, and what you end up with is something that might not be bad in its own right, but really has no connection to Undertale. It's like taking a blue fishing pole and a blue mining cart and saying that the mining cart is just a different version of the fishing pole because they are both blue.

Awww Sans that's sweet of him, poor guy though.
Very interesting way to add Chara into all of this, and somewhat a reason on why Frisk is afraid of giants. Nice to see Frisk almost trying to talk to Sans now even if she failed in doing so the poor smol, wonder if Sans managed to hear her though.
Hooo boy Paps is back, let's hope things don't get out of hand with him now discovering Frisk his loud mouth may scare her away into fleeing again XC.

Hehe yes! He was actually productive for once, so Papyrus can't go yelling at him for that.
And yeah at first i was a little hesitant in including Chara in this. But then when i had a slight writers/comic block Chara soon came up as an option to help move the story. And give Frisk maybe a bit of background as well to her fears.
And yeah let's hope that Pap's goes easy on the poor tiny human.

Writer's block do suck XC. And yeah I get what you mean, besides the 6 other fallen children who we really know barely anything about, Chara is really the only other human character in the game who'd fit as a Borrower in a Borrower AU. Nice to see a bit of Frisk's background too.
Hopefully Papyrus will and if things do get out of hand let's hope Sans can manage to calm things down XC.

Anyways happy to know i chose a good role for Chara, since either then the items and their soul type we find and learn about in the game we really don't know that much about the other kids. All we can do is make theories and guesses for those humans on what they much have been like.
And yep. And maybe hopefully Papyrus's friendly, positive nature will help Frisk too though come out of her shell a little bit?

Yeah not to add seeing how Chara hates humans in the game, while we don't know why Chara of course did grow up with humans before falling, so something tells me in a Borrower AU like this Chara may potentially hate giant monsters and really hammered it into Frisk's head of how supposedly horrible Chara thinks they all are.Β
Yeah that can also work as well, something tells me while at first Papyrus' surprise at seeing a tiny human all of a sudden may get him a bit too excited and loud, which may make things worse and overwhelming for a brief moment with Frisk perhaps deciding to then make an attempt to run for it or hide from them again, and Sans may possibly have to step in to keep both Papyrus and Frisk calm. But the moment Papyrus calms down and gets used to the whole idea that 'wow there's a human and a tiny one right in front of me' and understands things a bit more then his optimism and in general being a nice guy will definitely help Frisk in opening up a bit more.

Yeah i can see it that Chara must have really hammered their thoughts onto Frisk. Perhaps previously when they were together Chara did most of the borrowing and stuff. So Frisk didn't get to experience and see how true those words were.
And yeah i'm sure Sans will step in if things get too tough or overwhelming for Frisk.

And yeah i was hesitant at first when the idea came while drawing out Frisk starting to try talking, but failing. And then i felt like she needed a flashback....it's clear that Chara is part of a flashback right? And not sharing Frisk's body? I want them to be two separate beings in this.

Well, that does match better with the events of the genocide run, but I'm not sure about anything of that nature even beginning to happen in this universe-
