Description Fisherman's Creed
Early to bed, early to rise
Fish all day, make up lies

I was going through some of my folders and found this photo. Taken in 2007 on Lake Greeson in Arkansas.

I like the mist/fog coming off the water, it gives the scene an eerie feeling (which I love )

When it's really early you can see the fog role off the water. It's really cool. (And cold.)

I can imagine! Once I my skills are better, I'd love to paint an eerie swamp with a dark/fantasy look to it. Like the swamps of New Orleans with a bit of magic to it

That'd be awesome. I love to see scenery and waterscape paintings-- I like them a lot more than portraits actually.. I wish I had the patience to be scenery painter.

I've never seen a New Orleans swamp except in my head when I was reading Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.

I've only seen them on TV, but in my head too while reading her stories. I saw in your journal that you need to finish the Vampire chronicles, I need to start them over. I've bought every one of her books (even those not part of the chronicles but still just as good!) in hardcover since Interview, except for the new novels about the childhood of Christ. On a side note, she did admit in an interview that she will be doing one more novel for the Chronicles, but it will be a couple of years before it's in print. I'm very curious to see what it will be like given her own personal change in direction.

I didn't hear about her writing one more. O_O Has she said what it will be called?
I read Interview but none of the others. I bought Interview after I read the libray's copy. Then I saw the movie. Then I found Tale of the Body Thief at a garage sale for 50 cents so I bought it.
Then I got The Vampire Lestat online, but I haven't read it yet ecause of the stack of books I have to read still. And I just ordered Queen of the Damned and Memnoch the Devil but haven't gotten them yet.
When I was like 8 I borrowed an Anne Rice book from my cousin but I didn't like it at the time. I can't remember which one it was for sure.. but I think it was Tale of the Body Thief.

So, The new tales of the vampires... What are these books about? Do they have the same characters?
Sorry for my long winded reply.

Check out this article/interview from time Magazine: [link]

I'm not sure what it is to be named, but she mentioned it will contain the word Angel if I remember correctly. Also for a great explanation of the different series of stories (like the actual Vampire Chronicles, the Mayfair Witches or the new vampire stories like "Pandora" check this out: [link]

I read Taltos I think first and was instantly in love with her writing style and the imagery her stories created for me. I was 21 or 22 I think? Not quite sure. And no worries about the long reply, I really enjoy talking with you as we have so many similar interests

Well, damn. I think I'll be hesitant to read the last book since she said it'd have a Christian "focus." I'm very much an Atheist.. Has she ever said what made her decide to go back to church?

Wiki explains the chronicles but it doesn't say much about the new tales. What characters are in them? >.<

Annnd. I'm almost done with Dracula, which means I can start on The Vampire Lestat soon. ^^ I have 47 more pages!

Yah, I'm going to read it but I'm going to go into it with a negative view from the jump I think. Trying to be open minded though. I'm unsure of what made her go back. Not sure if it had to do with her husband's death or not as that happened years before her change in path. The new tales are about Pandora and Vittorio. I don't remember much as it was a while back, but I remember loving Pandora's story which has quite a bit to do with Marius as they were a couple on-off for centuries.

Congrats on finishing Dracula! What an awesome story

Have you read any other books by Stoker? I really like Dracula, but I wish it wasn't all diary entries and letters.

I actually haven't unfortunately. I used to read quite a bit, but once I really got motivated in the visual art arena I seemed to have lost the motivation to read all the time. Well I do read a lot about art and art technique but not as many novels anymore. There is a wonderful book that I really think you would enjoy after you have met your other reading goals It's a best seller called "I Lucifer" and you can read a bit about it here: [link] )

The synopsis doesn't give it as much credit as it deserves though. I found it to be one of the few books that had me as excited to read as Anne's novels make me. I just read a movie is in production as well which I am thrilled about. Anywho it's one of the best books I read and kept me thoroughly entertained, philosophical and laughing.

It sounds good! But, seriously, Elton John? Don't get me wrong, I love his music, but that is beyond the last thing I ever expected. I'll have to add this book to my wishlist.

I've really slacked off as far as art goes. I went to the book store with a friend who's also a book nerd and she reminded me how much I love to read. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to do both.
And it doesn't help that when I finally started a new project (a digital painting of my friend) my power went out and the painting wasn't saved. Two hours wasted. >.<

Oh that sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. Stuff like that has happened to me before so I tend to save every 5 mins!

If I'd expected the power to go out, I would have saved. But because there wasn't even a light drizzle, I wasn't worried.. It was the first time our power has ever gone out without there being some major storm. I guess I learned a lesson, though.
<.<
And now I'm gonna go read Dracula. xD I was going to finish last night but got sleepy. I forgot that I had class this morning. xD I stayed up until 1:30 and woke up at 4:45 because I heard my dad's alarm clock.
I think a nap would be good.
