Around 14 hours total. Trade with Shell ( ). This is my half of it. How DO the feathers get stuck on the hands? Swapped the bottom foot in the end and made it pointy ballerina-type, at 's suggestion, it was her suggestion to make it a tribal design too. Don't like the background. I want to die. And sleep. No, die.
...Right. It's 3AM. I stayed up because it's the last week of the holidays and I NEED to finish at least SOME stuff before the year-long torture begins. Especially next year. Rawr.

This is very cool. I think the part I like best about is the skin tones. You did really well there with color and shading. Overall though, this is a really nice picture, and the simplicity of the background fits.

The feathers are perfect.. I always thought of them as being extensions of her fingernails, so you got that part right

Really really beautiful. I love the skin tone and the hair and the hands are perfectly done (I have so much trouble with hands). I've never seen feathers coming out of fingertips before! I think it's a really creative touch! You shouldn't hammer yourself for the background. o0 I think it's fine. Kinda gives the picture a nice cultural look.

Very interesting character, I think that you did a good job! The feathers off the ends of the fingers are really neat looking, and the whold thing holds a feel of real...dom. I know that whold 'I don't like the background' feeling alsox__x
Here's a helpful pointer when making bland backgrounds. Just a lot of shades. As in you take darker and lighter blues, and you choose a point for the light to come from, and use the lighter blues up there and use the darker blues in other areas. then if you want to make it a little more itneresting, make some clouds as you can make simple ones that look neat.
also remember that while you do all of that that you use low opacity and flow (AP)

None of it is crap, Crystal. The coloring and anatomy is at least 5 times better than anything I've done so far. And the background, though not yours, contrasts well with the character.
