Description my Grandma, Marie, fell pregnant when she was 14 years old. Her mother realised her pregnancy before Marie did and one night a nurse called and led my Grandmother into the kitchen and spread her out on the stone kitchen floor.

Still unaware Marie was held down as the nurse performed an abortion on her using detergent, a wire clothes frame and plenty of bandages.

It was painful and horrific and my Grandmother was forced to undergo this procedure twice during the same pregnancy, each time the operation failed and my grandmother gave birth to my father.

The only thing my Grandmother ever recalled from the two terrible events that left her infertile after was the nurse who remarked

'They make it look so easy'.

(this image is my mental representation to the story and may not be to the best likeness of events. The drawing was the work of myself and a friend, the colour and manipulation was my doing.)

Whoa.
This is the type of work where I find myself unable to comment correctly but, feel bad about faving and running.

Predicaments.

The story definately heightens the feeling of shock I get. Sounds like something someone would add to a slumber party-manufactured horror/cautionary tale.

And are those instructions she's holding? I honestly gasped.

Thanks for taking the time to comment then, I appreciate it.

I may have made it sound a bit cutesy with the way I wrote it, it was a long time when I was told all this so much of it has fallen into my own accent (which I don't feel benefits it all that much).

Yes, those are instructions. Notes she copied from a doctor or something along those lines.

Thanks for faving and commenting.

Noticed something in your commentary: I think you meant to say that your Grandmother gave birth to your father, not "my mother gave birth to my father."

That's true. Thanks for pointing that out.

Interesting! Was different times back then, these days she woulda been took down to the local clinic. And olf folk call these the "Good old times."?

Definitely a bold contradiction but then nostalgia often makes the woes we know more attractive.

...Oh, sw-sweet suffering Jesus...
The story sounds so terrible... so sick and vile...

The picture is nicely horrific. The sepia gives off the impression of old-timeyness. The shadows make it looks like a memory one tried to burn, to block from their mind. The girl and woman are well drawn.

I got a bad taste in my mouth, now. Some people...

Thanks for the comment. Nice to have people break it down.

I can't take too much credit for the actual drawing itself, I did details, painting and affects and whatnot but my friend helped with the anatomy.

I'm glad that's what you think of it, I didn't want it coming across too friendly looking.

My pleasure, you're welcome.

The both of you did a pretty good job. The effects on it are cool- I can't do anatomy to save my life, so the combined effort had a good outcome here.

Friendly, maybe if I were an extreme sadist. But you succeeded, it doesn't look very friendly.
