Great shot and lovely cookies
The color of the cookies coupled with the background are pleasing to the eye, however your lighting is a little off and the bottom most cookie is hiding in the shadows while the foremost cookie borders being overexposed. Next time you try a shot like this, try putting a light behind and off to the left so that there's not so much shadow falling on the subject. If you don't have a photo light, use a desk lamp and white paper to spread and diffuse the light You can use the white paper to diffuse the light from your flash, too
Your depth of field is also a tad too shallow in my opinion. I'd have liked to see all of the cookies in focus, but you lose the bottom cookie to the shallow depth of field. You can increase your depth of field by moving your camera a little further from the subject and then cropping in, or you can bump your aperture to about f/7 or so and have a similar effect
Finally, your ISO is also a tad high for something that's well-lit and not moving, which is why there's a bit of noise (the speckling, pixely looking stuff in the top left corner). Instead of ISO 800, try using ISO 200
I would also advise adding a touch of contrast and warmth to the photo.
Other than that, this photo looks good enough to eat I love the arrangement you have them in.
Good work!

Wow, thank you so much, first of all, for such a detailed comment! I really appreciate that!
I agree with the lighting issue. This was taken in afternoon sunlight in my otherwise dark kitchen, and I admit the thought of adding a lamp at that time of the day didn't occur to me (I'm not sure why ). If I ever use flash (I haven't in this shot), I do often use white paper, it's a VERY useful trick.
I've heard similar things about the DoF in this photo before, and I do agree with that, too. I'd like to believe since taking this photo that I've figured out how to manipulate the controls of my camera better than I used to, so hopefully if I retook this photo focus wouldn't be as big a problem.
I'm confused about the ISO, personally (not about what you said, that makes perfect sense), but because from memory, I took this photo on auto, so I'm not really sure why the ISO is so high... I'll keep an eye out next time, though.
Thanks again, I'm really glad you like the arrangement.
