Description White Shadow sketch dump: number eleven. I've officially been posting these for a year now (and I'm only up to 11?! lol)

This one's all about Felicia and a redesign of her sneaking suit that I'm working on. This is the 5th version of her suit and I'm hoping that by the time I'm done with it, I'll be able to finally settle on this as her final suit design. This one's incorporating a lot of the things I feel have been missing from the previous designs - namely the 'tech-ninja' feel.

I'm also thinking a lot more about what sort of materials the various parts are likely to be made from. I have it that the majority of the suit is a neoprene-spandex weave, much like a wetsuit. In theory it should keep her nice and warm and not restrict movement while remaining snug.

Like Violet, Felicia now has the wrist and leg bracers for defence. Felicia's wrist bracers also have a context sensitive tactile display in them, much like the Nokia Morph concept phone (Google it, it's awesome). I'm still yet to design them in detail.

In the bottom right corner is a colour test I did before working out the other details. I'm wondering though; should I make the goggle lenses green instead?

Amazing and almost exactly a duplicate of my own work! lol. It really boggles my mind how often themes seem to arise with no previous collaboration or contact. They are exactly alike, but very similar, lol. Good luck with yours.

Looks awesome. Pretty impressive design if you ask me (did you? )

As for the goggles, I'd be tempted to say red would be better than green. Green might be associated with night vision, and I assume they're used for more than just night vision?

You've even worked out what material it is. Now that's detail

Gotta think of these kinda things sometimes

I have it that the googles are fairly multipurpose, which a basic heads-up display showing a few different readouts and such. They'll have various vision enhancing features such as night vision and infrared. Probably some others that generally target movements or whatever. It's all stuff I still need to think about in depth to be honest.
I'm thinking I'll go with blue though since it doesn't seem to suggest any particular type of enhancement.

And it just looks cool

The blue does look pretty cool

I honestly don't know if I'd have the patience to work on something as long and in as much detail as you have with White Shadow. I want to get the final product too quickly

Personally, I think red is a good colour to stick with. The red hair, purple suit, all sticks around that general colour area. Also, have you thought of polarised yellow/orange?

The way I look at it, I think it should be based less on technology than on character. If you can pick a colour that has meaning or makes her look flat out awesome, then go, but what about looking at her nemesis for inspiration?

Rivals usually have opposite colours, (except here, where they both wear a lot of purple.) so why not pick opposite highlights for their designs? Make the contrasts between them a little more obvious.

Just thinking, not trying to write an essay here. Good luck!

Really cool suit design dude. But I can't decide which one is more cooler. This design or the original suit design. They both look good. Anyway. Continue the awesome work.

OK...I have a few words for this picture. (1) I don't think this is a dumpy picture. It looks rather neat and organized. It's very professional in my opinion.(2)I am totally diggin this tech-ninga style. It's unique and so is her look.(3) as for the goggles .... red and purple look very cool together, but... I like the blue better. This is an awesome picture and I look forward to seeing more of this type of stuff. You keep it up man!

Thanks very much

I just call them sketch dumps since I'm dropping my sketches onto the one file to post them. This one was mostly drawn on a few pages in my sketchbook so they're already fairly organised, but some of the earlier ones were just me throwing ideas at it and seeing what I ended up with.

I think I'll be sticking with the blue look to the goggles since it goes well with the whole tech-ninja theme she's got going on

One has to give ya kudos if not for the mere depths you go into while designing stuff like this.

awesome job

For a sketch "dump" it looks pretty organized. I have to say it definitely captures that "tech ninja" quality. Looks to be something straight out of Metal Gear Solid or a similar series. She seems defenseless save for the vision distorting devices. Being a ninja though, I am correct in assuming she is an adept martial artist?
Keep up the good work, my friend!

Thanks!
Well, in this case I just arranged the sketched pages onto this file, though usually they tend to be dropped around wherever fits.

Metal Gear Solid was one of many inspirations for this version of her suit, along with Splinter Cell, Ghost in the Shell and a few pieces around dA

I'm yet to properly redesign her weapon which is a kinda of stun-rod/kali stick, but she is indeed highly adept in martial arts so she doesn't always need to use it.

I just adore you stealth suits.

Egas, I need to get back to that. The Armor, suits, and weapons...

The muscle thing is fun but not my true interest.

Designing all this stealth stuff is pretty fun. It's finding that balance between style and practicality

I personally try to start with some kind of default, general issue, material adding personal touches like the obligatory decals or writing on the armor.

But for freelancers that is harder for me. It's like having to come up with a super suit that actually does and looks like it does something.
