Description I finally got this done!! I created a fan character for Kaiser's Tribal Wars: Foxes of Aaka a while ago, but I only recently worked on her reference sheet.

Name: Chepi
Gender: female
Species: Gray Fox (normal colors)
Alliance: Aaka Tribe (adopted)
Rank: kit
Relations: unnamed parents (deceased), Kaya (foster mother)

Background Info:
Chepi is a gray fox kit adopted into the Aaka tribe after a young Aaka fox found her abandoned. Due to his inexperience, he mistook her for a red fox kit and brought her back to the tribe as an orphan. Reiko, the tribe's alpha, explained that the little kit wasn't one of their species and that it could be an issue to take her in. He relented after one of the vixens offered to adopt her. Most foxes of the Tribe have since accepted Chebi as a true member... or at least a true member as far kits can be.

Chepi was old enough to realize what was going on but not old enough to survive on her own. She stated that her parents were not part of any gray fox tribe and were killed by humans (or as she put it, loud noises). She had no siblings, which influenced her willingness to seek out other species of animals for friends. Chepi wasn't sure how long she had been on her own or actually where she had come from. All she remembered was running as fast as she could after her parents were shot and then running away from other animals out of fear.

Initially she was a bit traumatized by what happened to her parents. But with the patience and support of most of Aaka foxes, she was able to come to terms with her loss. She still misses her parents, but she has grown to love her new family just as much.

Personality:
Chepi is a very excitable, friendly little kit who is actually quite thrilled to be in the Aaka tribe even though she is not one by birth... or even the same species of fox. The fact she's not the same species doesn't really bother her. Chepi's just too curious about Aaka's customs and too cheerful to really mind. It remains to be seen if this will become an issue when she's older, but regardless she'll always be close to the Tribe as a friend and ally at the very least.

She is one part clown and one part trouble-maker... as evident by her love of climbing trees. Chepi drives her new family crazy by her ability to climb trees which is something unique to gray foxes. She is able to climb up without problems, but climbing down is a bit harder. She sometimes ends up immobilized by fear in trees and has to be coaxed down. She laughs this off, but deep down she's actually bothered by the fact that she gets that frightened. As she gets older, she loses that fear and becomes as equally skilled at climbing down trees as climbing up.

Chepi is also fairly distractable and curious. Her curiosity often gets her into trouble. Many of the older foxes see her as nosy and a bit of a pest some of the time. She is often underfoot of the older foxes, oblivious to the fact that she's not old enough to help them on hunts or with border disputes.

Other:
Chepi loves berries to the point of obsession. She'd do almost anything for one. She does have her limits however; she would never betray her tribe or do something she strongly disagrees with for one. Leaving the safety of the Tribe's camp pr foster family's den in search of some fresh ones is not beneath her though.

She has a fear of thunderstorms and other loud noises as a result of the gunshots she heard when her parents were killed. Despite the fact that humans were the ones to kill her parents, she's actually pretty indifferent to them. Cautious, yes. But no true hatred or fear. As long as they stay away from her she's fine with them. Chepi just doesn't connect humans with the gunshots that killed her parents.

Everything above is subject to change, esp. her relationships with the other characters, if it disrupts the comic in any way. Chepi is a fan-character. She has no bearing on the story what-so-ever and will more than likely not appear in it. It would be neat if she does, but I'm not holding my breath.

Update 4/24/12:
It sounds like it will be okay for Kaya to be Chepi's foster mum. Kaiser said she gave Kaya a nurturing personality anyways, so she'd be willing to take in an orphaned gray fox kit.

Still no word yet if she'll actually appear in the comic though. It's okay if she doesn't. I made her a kit specifically so that she wouldn't cause too much problems with the overall story.

Random Info:
Chepi is pretty much the kit and Aaka version of my gray fox character, Cinder. They differ only in having slightly different markings and Chepi's background being slightly more developed. I still like Chepi all the same though. ^^

I made Kaya her tentative foster mom because I helped brainstorm name ideas with Kaiser for that character. It was better than making up yet another character.

Chepi's reference sheet's format is based on Kaiser's reference sheets for her Aaka foxes. I couldn't find the fonts she used for hers though.

The lineart used here is heavily based on images of little Todd from Disney's The Fox and the Hound. I can't draw things too well at the moment due to some stupid medication side effect. (let's just say it's a pain having respiratory illnesses when you have asthma!)

Sorry for taking a bit to comment on this. D: It's been sitting in my inbox, I've just been to busy with commissions and school to comment. alkdjk

Anyway! Chepi is adorable! <3 I love her design and especially her name. I think Kaya will just love taking care of her since I've always imagined her sorta like the "motherly" type anyway. c: I also love how you added the bit about her ability to climb trees too! I've always found it awesome how gray foxes are able to climb trees though reds can't. Haha, Chepi has a berry obsession like Sprite does! xDD

Do you mind if I add her to the comic's website?

Beware of a very disorganized post. Too many ruminating thoughts today for me to focus on stuff.

Nah, that's okay. I only uploaded it a few days ago, so you're not late or anything.

Anyways... I'm glad you like Chepi! She's a cutie. She's a lot like her 'momma,' Cinder. Except Cinder isn't her real momma, just the character of mine she was based off of. But the heck with them being alike. I like them both! They were a lot of fun to create.

Chepi's name comes from some Native American mythology. The chepis are fairies/spirits that share knowledge with shamans in dreams and visions. I'm not sure if little Chepi lives up to that though. I just thought the word was cute.

Haha, how odd that you imagined Kaya being motherly anyways. She doesn't look it in her ref picture. I guess she's a firm mother. Which is good because someone needs to keep Chepi in line. So I guess Chepi gets to keep her foster mum?

Of course you can upload this to your website. It would be nice seeing her there.

Yup, Sprite's not alone in her love of berries. ^^ Chepi gets it from Cinder, and Cinder... I dunno how I came up with that idea for her. I think I read somewhere that gray foxes like fruit and could climb trees to reach the fruit, and it just grew from there. Now I have two foxes more or less addicted to berries.

I love how gray foxes can climb trees. Some of them even have their nurseries in trees. I guess that's why Chepi knows how to climb trees already. It's gotta be frustrating for the Aaka foxes to have a kit around who can climb trees. At least they can outrun Chepi. Gray foxes have shorter legs. And they'll always be larger than her too.

How are your other fox characters coming along? I'm not sure if I can be of any help for this project, but I'll help in any way I can. ^^ It will give me something else to focus on. I'm always in need of something to take my mind off of my... umm... problems.

Let me know if you need any fox family trees.

Thanks. Chepi's an adorable little thing, but she can get into a lot of mischief at times. Esp. when she climbs trees-- she knows her adopted family can't climb up after her.

A little canine that can climb! That must be amazing. I've seen the new guinea singing dogs climb @_@ they are so agile.

New Guinea singing dogs got nothing on gray foxes! Gray foxes will actually use hawk nests in trees to sun themselves. So they are able to climb up pretty high. They are also able to jump from branch to branch.

Actually a lot of canines can climb trees. I've seen domestic dogs climb them. They just can't go too high and aren't very agile in them. They just not really designed to climb them; some individuals are just able to figure it out by chance. Gray foxes though are perfectly at home in trees. ^^

The poor Aaka foxes gotta put up with Chepi being able to do that.

The part about gray foxes or the part about some pet dogs being able to climb trees? ^^

Both are neat. Poor cats are out of luck though!

I know. They can literally fight tooth and nail. ^^ Dogs only have teeth. They're also very agile and can land on their paws a lot of the time.

It's just funny imagining a poor cat being chased by a dog running up a tree, thinking its safe, only to have the dog climb up after it. Good thing cats are agile and can get down quickly.
