Yeah, it's been ages since I submitted a full-fledged paintaing. This is an Illustration of the band, the Shins, that is in the current issue of Spin magazine, in the record review section.
Check it.
I wanted to just do a line art with digital color-thing in the style of my comic, which is like, what 90% of all the other illustrators get do in Spin.That would have been easy. But they wanted me todo a painting. I was happy to oblige. I had to do the final in like, 20 hours. It hurt. This reminds me of the Sleater Kinney illustration I did.

but is the girl on the cover just stylistic? i always thought there was a girl in the band at one point
or maybe i'm just plain wrong

By the way, do you listen to The Shins at all? I have not, but I've been eying their albums at work, and I kind of want to give them a shot. I'm always wary of trying new artists, though; cuz I'm usually disappointed.

I love the Shins!...and this painting.
My classmate Erin found out I like your work, and it turns out you work/worked with either her father or grandfather...I can't remember...I have a short attention span.
The point is...this is a small world.
Also, I think you should paint more often. My favorite pieces of yours are always painted.
