I can't help but wonder what exactly transpired for Zarkon to go from being a Paladin to literally becoming king of the universe?

I'm sure we'll find out, eventually. Dave pointed out that Zarkon is wearing what looks like a modified paladin uniform. My personal theory is that Haggar is like Rasputin, except with real magic and with more self-preservation. She may have lured him to the dark side. It may be why he seems so reliant on her for ideas while ignoring everyone else.

That would make sense. That or we have a sort of Macbeth thing going on where she kind of plays the role of the seer for him, the one who pulls fates strings? That sort of thing. We'll see.
