Why is the cheetah stuffed to a corner?

I had a great art teacher tell me to never put your subject in the center of your canvas. It's boring and predictable, so I put him in the corner.

I suppose he also told you to put him into golden ratio and most importantly, that viewer's eyes tend to follow look of the main subject. In this case, instead of looking at the country, they fall out of the picture.
I'd personally put the cheetah an inch towards the centre (not into the centre, just closer) and more importantly, would turn him around. This way it looks... strange. The picture itself is very good, just gives a very odd feeling.

Thanks for the advice. It's not often that I get genuine help on this site. I made it years ago and I can see your point. If I was to do it again, I'd probably move him.
