Othwin sounds more Anglo-Saxon to me. Of course 'Oth' is common to several ancient Germanic tongues and even had a Latin counterpart. That shoulder seated familiar, Thyth, reminds me, in a smaller edition, of the Harpies in the Harryhausen movie "Jason and the Argonauts". Have you seen that? Or did you go back to an older source from legend? Nice cross-bow, too. Interesting idea, anyway. Please do more of Melkior! My best, WWL

I usually base names on existing models from various sources. Othwin is a portmanteau of elements from Norse and Germanic names and has no particular meaning (although it's possible to derive one). Thyth is just a variation of Thoth.Β OΕΎys (pronounced "oh'zhees", zh as in leisure and ees as in geese) is Lithuanian for "goat". Yes, I'm a keen amateur linguist!

This is understandable. Of course Lovecraft or Robert E. Howard obviously did this well before our time! Likely Sir Walter Scott did the same. Yes, the Brothers Grimm went much into historical and even pre-historical philology to find the earliest sources for names and words. All of this stuff is fascinating, at least to us, of course. Now Thyth deriving from Thoth; this suggests some Egyptian link, possibly?. You might recall in those Conan yarns & even the comic books that Thoth Amon was a powerful sorcerer. Oh, interesting but perfectly sensible to use a Lettish word to describe your horned character. The Yuni master has done several horned characters and even Prince Arcus is a horned "demon". My Canid People, being telepathic, have no spoken names but for convenience, back in the 1980s I invented Germanic sounding names for them. They, appearance-wise, were a blend of German shepherd with mastiff. Keep up the good work. WWL

Thanks, very much, Luka Β I had a lot of fun with that "Knight Winds" outfit, cutting out the both the boots and the pants to make them into shorts and shoes (and of course losing the bust). Hooray for the geometry editor!
The satyr is a very old Genesis 1 figure that I didn't think I could use again (great morphing by DarioFish). I converted for Iray and used a fur shader on the legs, et voilΓ ! I think his great clomping hooves are so cute!

Fantastic characters! Β Any chance the one with the sword is wearing heels? I wish you wouldn't have cropped his feet out of the frame. Just personal preference; I don't mean to be overly critical. . . It is a very nice render.
