freakin ahmazing.

hey mr. waters, for my art class, we have to write a short biography of our favorite artist , but i cant find any biographys of you on the web, so could u just do a short, two paragraph autobiography of yourself? just saying like, your art influences when you were a kid and your schooling?

Freelancing has a lot of things going for it. That said, so's working in-house. I love being at Red5.

Nope, don't play m'self. I used to back around Urza's Saga. Nowadays it takes a degree in Calculus (or so it seems)! Too much for my little brain.

man this thing looks familiar?! did u design it or did you have reference drawings of an existing design??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fyreant In reply to joverine [2008-08-11 00:12:16 +0000 UTC]

Mostly from my head. Grabbed bits of turtle anatomy and dino anatomy for the big beast. The antelope are clearly ripoffs of real antelope.

haha ok
cuz I did a similar design for some wizards of the coast or whitewolf or something...thought(was hoping) this was it..

I did happen to look back at the design I did...its a bull with spiny horns on its back..so a little diff.
but that name sounded familiar
anyways..i still love it(urs)

Crud, that's awesome must go watch you now... one question though isn't Wizard's of the Coast like the adult version of Mirrorstone? That's the publisher I am thinking of applying for, I think O_o.

Fyreant In reply to Wingshaft [2008-02-29 22:10:07 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately I can't give you a good answer on that. I don't know anything about Mirrorstone. :{

Onslaught is without a doubt my favourite expansion. *grins* This illustration is certainly also one of the very great ones of Onslaught! I love how dynamic you made the gazelles (and the Hystrodon itself). I think your colouring style is great too (and how the blue spikes lead you attention towards the large animal).

Dang....

I swear... when I browsed your gallery I was having a bit of difficulty deciding which piece of artwork to "favorite" first -- your stuff is that good.

I love the sense of energy and "pressure" in this composition, and the colors seem to sort of... make the piece, in a unusual way.

Magnificent craft of genius! I must add you to my "watch" list....

They were fun additions! I have a feeling they're totally, safe, just spooked by the big turtle/armadillo/thing. I doubt he could catch 'em even if he WERE in the mood for antelope steaks.

Fantastic compositional flow on this one, really pushes the feeling of urgecy.

The tree crossing the beasty's tail kind of riminds me of a durian tree.

Damn! Thank you, and my apologies for taking so long to respond. This piece took about a day. Say, twelve to fourteen hours total, from drawing to finish. It was a meatgrinder of an assignment, Odyssey was.

I dig dynamic. The better I get at it, the more I'm loving it. That's where comic art really inspires me. My stuff feels static next to a good comic page! One of these days it won't.

Wow, I love the dynamics of the deer/gazelle creatures running away. I love their jet black markings. I'm also totally digging the blue in the Hystrodon's spikes and the blue shading in the gazelles. This piece is very powerful, and I'm alwaysalwaysalways going to be totally gushing over your coloring styles. It's just lovely to look at!!
