Ryuu has a caring and kind nature, always ready to help others (strangers or friends) when they need an extra paw and has a tendency to put their well-being before his own which at times may put him in a tight spot such as being low on food if he finds someone starving and in need. Not that he would mind being hungry for a day. He tries to stay positive and look at the brighter things in life appreciating everything he has learned and being grateful to still be alive. Ryuu enjoys events and festivities very much and they tend to bring a big smile upon his face seeing many others enjoying their time, dressing up, being silly together, and sharing stories. He enjoys the company of others and having a good time as well as learning new things from those that he meets.
He is honest although he may not openly express dislikes for certain gifts to avoid hurting the feelings of someone who only meant well and he does appreciate the thought even if he dislikes the gift very much. Despite not being very rich, he tends to gift fish to others that he feels would appreciate to have the extra food as it warms his heart when he gives things to others and see that they are happy. He would be more than happy to trade goods among the districts for whatever food they come by or grow and strengthen the bond among the community. Despite having lived a rough life he is too trusting of others and can easily be fooled. He also has a stubborn side especially when it comes to catching fish as he does not like to return home with empty paws - once he sets his mind on something he becomes difficult to be swayed. Ryuu is not the most clever and at times can be slow to catch onto things, especially when it comes to romance as he is not actively searching for a partner.

House Description: The house only consists of one room and the bare necessities, just enough for your character to get by comfortably. Everyone starts with this house.
Ryuu lives in a small log house at the waters edge that has a roofed porch that sits above the water and a simple boat that he uses to go out and catch fish in. There are a few coolers stacked on one side of the house and on the other side are some herbs in pots that he grows. A window that he likes to keep open has a small pot of blue hydrangea. Outside in his small bit of yard he has his cooking pot over and open fire since he cannot afford to have a kitchen in his home just yet with so little space until he can expand. As well as in his yard he has drying racks to preserve the fish that he has no room to store in his coolers or freezer.
Within his home he has a mini fridge and mini freezer though to store his fish he mostly relies on his coolers, filling them with ice to keep the fish chilled. He sleeps on a mattress on the floor with many pillows, has a low table to eat his meals on, a small tv, and a small bathroom.

Ryuu strongly believes in the Goddess Mother and that the islands given to them should be treated with respect and care. He has heard that all of the islands except for one have become shrouded in mist and can no longer be inhabited, whether or not it was true that the Goddess Mother had taken back her islands, if the islands could not be respected then the inhabitants did not deserve to continue to live on them. One should learn to not take the good things in life for granted.

Background:
Ryuu comes from a poor family who had taught him to never take things for granted and to appreciate the smallest of things. He had been born the only pup and was frail, often he would get sick even throughout his juvenile years with his mother needing to care for him when not busy with her herbs while her mate focused on keeping the family fed as a fisherman. Because of how sickly Ryuu was, his mother learned to grow herbs to help treat his fevers and ease his pains some. During his juvenile years he had learned from his mother how to make use of their herbs such as making poultices, tea, spices, and other things, so that he could come to learn how to take care of himself (as well as others if needed).

Steadily over the years Ryuu's immune system grew stronger and now that he was healthier and had more energy, he would help his fisherman father and their bond strengthened now that Ryuu wasn't always sick in bed and they could actually bond together as father and son. They would sell their fish to merchants or trade them among others in their town for other foods. Life as a fisherman did not make them rich, but they were able to get by and it was nice to be able to trade their fish for other yummy goods - eating fish nearly every day wasn't exciting even with spices.

As a young adult, Ryuu heard rumors of the Pawprint Islands and soon its stories of how those who inhabited the islands lost all, but one to their Goddess Mother because of their foolishness. They stopped caring for their environment and took the islands and their safe life for granted, now only one island remained while the others were shrouded and lost in the mists. Upon hearing that some canines remained living on the islands trying to appease their goddess and change their ways, Ryuu felt the urge to travel there to teach others how to respect and care for the environment while helping to restore the islands that had been lost to their former glory. After hearing these upsetting stories, Ryuu was glad that he had been born poor and for his experiences, for he seemed to have more wisdom than those who live life easy and without worry.

With a heavy heart Ryuu bid his parents farewell as he would begin to take his life into his own paws now and help guide others. Although he would dearly miss his parents, their lives would be a little easier with one less mouth to feed and worry about, and for all they had done for him he vowed to repay them by sending them money and goods once he settled down and put his fishing skills to the test.
