I am SO bad. I should be busting my ass trying to finish Aqua lol, but I couldn’t resist…I have just been gessoing the armor non stop basically and I really need to CUT my Lisa and Aqua wigs but I made the mistake of re-playing SH:SM last night…And by golly, not only do I have a new prop idea for my casual Lisa, I also am itching to keep working on my mementos again ;^;
I haven’t touched em’ since winter break. What you see in this pic is the result of about 2 weeks worth of solid work. They don’t look like much, but some of them are going to be a bitch to finish (and have been hell up until now). For example, a Broken Ward and the Synthetic Femur were crazy hard to shape because of how I constructed their bases, and will now require a ridiculous amount of sanding. My Flying Lizard will be the hardest of all by FAR, but he is also my favorite memento so I don’t mind. He is currently the cracked monstrosity you see. I learned that AZ’s climate is not conducive to getting good work done with model magic; without adding ANY water it cracked! Easy enough to fix though, he’ll get his cracks filled and sanded soon enough.
Let’s see, oh yes, the Modern Prometheus…he needs hair of some sort, and some paint touch ups. I was shocked that I made him in one night, and I’m happy with how he turned out!

The Frozen Waters marble will be replaced with one I actually make at some point.
A Moveable Feast is going pretty well, I like my faux antler coloring, and the blade is getting more gesso on its beveled edge as I type this. Then it’ll be painted and aged appropriately. The handle still needs the inscription.

My favorite memento that I’ve been working on is by far a Hidden Fire. My boyfriend sized the lovely pictures you see plastered on an actual case of cigarettes. I was getting majorly frustrated with trying to do it in paint…and of course, he being computer savvy had the excellent idea to make the faces in MS Powerpoint and fit them to the carton itself. Sheer brilliance (I can boast right? I had no part in it!) I am partial to this memento because it has a special memory of my own associated with it
The rings…these little things were quite tricky to make. Your Diamond Heart was the hardest; I made the “diamond” actually sitting in a holder and the 5 diamonds are inlaid on each side of the center one, just like the real ring. I need to repaint the eyes on Infinite Jest, they are blue for some reason (lol as if the bronze I used paint oxidized! Weird stuff…) I am probably the happiest with my infinite jest one, which is great because it is one of my favorite mementos! I am going to repaint a Frigid Jewel to be a more white-gold type color, I didn’t have the right color on my in AZ. We, Ouroboros needs serious detailing, and all of the rings need their inscriptions still. All 4 rings are wear-able (for pictures of course!)
An Eternal Rose seemed like it might be a colossal challenge at first because I couldn’t figure out how to get a rose in a paperweight without casting it (which is massively expensive…) and luckily my grandma had the perfect solution. She used to make x-mas ornaments out of these clear balls and had some left over. There is a seam, but when it is sitting in the box that won’t be visible anyway. I custom built the rose/greenery. The in-game rose has a LOT more greenery than a real rose would, and it doesn’t even look like rose leaves, but whatever, mine matches it.

Poetry as Precise as Geometry was fun to make. I really like how the paint turned out on this one, but I still need to make the inscription. If you don’t recognize the cap, check out the box after you’ve collected it. There is a pen cap there even though the close up of it shows no cap!

Memories Undeveloped is far from done; I aged the edges a little but this one will also be made with the actual game pictures since I got a 360 view of it.

A Beacon, A Light is yet another one that looks painfully simple but ended up being hourrrrsss of work. Very annoying considering I’m not even a fan of it I gotta retouch up the paint, it touched another one and somehow the paint melted off in a spot, ugh. At least it’s done aside from adding the plastic part around the lightbulb. Yes, that is a real light bulb…but like A Broken Ward, no it doesn’t function :<
Adam & Eve needs extensive sanding, and will eventually have the actual pictures of Harry and Dahlia inside of them.
And finally, Pinned Beauty needs new wings since these somehow got water on them. It will have the actual game picture of the “Xerces Blue” tag And of course the pin/antennae/legs need more painting.

PHEW I ramble a lot…guess I mostly write these descriptions for myself so that I can go back later and reflect on how I made things and whatnot.

Ok, off to cut my wigs now :3
