He goes to my brother's school and his older sister is in my brother's class. I took a photo of him by accident, really. I didn't delete it though and kinda liked it when I saw it after all the pictures had been transferred to the computer. Then I decided I liked it enough to draw it. So, here it is
9x12 Bristol paper, BIC mechanical pencil (cuz I can't be bothered with actual art pencils lately
) kneaded eraser and pink pearl for erasing, and blending stump and chamois for blending. Approximately 6 hours.This was done just for the fun of it, and it really was fun to do

Anyone scanning my faves will probably notice a theme... This one has that kind of moody undertone and quality that fits in nicely. Great portrait here.

You know when you watch someone and you only veiw there current work. Well after I saw your latest submission I realized I had not looked at your gallery in a while. After going through some of your work again I found myself drawn to this one. I like it alot, its such a great angle and the dark background gives it substance.
Very well done and a Fav for sure...

o my, that hair is amazing! the layering of it is superb, it almost looks as if he just got his haircut, and the barber did a half-decent job, leaving incosistencies in the hair lengths...and the face is so luminous! very very good job!

Gabs, this couldn't be "just for fun." Real artists (haha not that you aren't one) take years to do work with that level of detail.
Honestly, fun or not, this is beyond a doubt your best work. The shading was more consistent than your past few pencils, the blending along the boy's collar is superb, and as usual you have the tendency to trap your audience into what your subject is thinking. Phew... I think I'm actually sweating.
Don't just submit this on DA... this is worthy of a pro gallery!
