This is my own drawing of Athena Asamiya (wearing her official KOFXIV outfit) sitting on a hill crying, with a neutral-faced Athena Asamiya (wearing a yukata with her hair in pigtails) appearing in the night sky. This is to signify that SNK rejected my yukata costume design for Athena in the upcoming game The King of Fighters XIV.
I did not like the official KOFXIV outfit because it had no pigtails or kimono/yukata, and no other kimono girls will be part of the KOFXIV cast. In fighting games, I usually tend to play kimono girls; however, I am out of luck this KOF. Therefore, the game will be released with no kimono girls.
The music used here is Lady Heroine's cover version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity". This drawing is also inspired by this song.

Your yukata concept for Athena is pretty interesting and nice indeed
However, it doesn't suit Athena imo. Borrowing BLFML72's words here, it would look better on other characters like Mai or Kasumi, because both of them has an old, traditional Japanese feel to them (Mai being a ninja and Kasumi wears a Hakama-like uniform) while Athena is designed to be more modern-like since she's a J-Pop singer, which explains her sailor uniform and colorful clothes
Besides, you shouldn't complain about how KOF XIV doesn't accept your idea. If you plan to ignore KOF XIV just because they didn't add more outfits, then dude, that's the most illogical reason for not buying a game...

Well, the yukata may not work for Mai or Kasumi because it is just that those two barely change costumes over the course of the series, as opposed to Athena being the only character to change costumes game after game. The reason behind my designing of the yukata for Athena is because I originally thought that she never worn a kimono (or yukata) before, and she never wore one in a traditional KOF game. Also, it is to serve as backup in case no other kimono girls are part of the roster. Now with the yukata gone to waste, KOFXIV will be released with no kimono girls at all.

I get your point... But look at all of Athena's design since her debut in KOF. All of them are modern clothes that suits her when she's performing a concert... and a kimono outfit doesn't let you have many space to move your legs, especially when a couple of Athena's attacks makes her stretch her legs VERY wide
Besides just because there's no kimono outfit doesn't mean that the game is going to waste...? Try to appreciate SNK's effort and avoid bitching and whining about how they ignored your request, they had a lot of problems over the past few years, you should be happy that the KOF series is still on going...

I'll take it if the wrap skirt bares her legs, and I had extra changes to the concept art so her long underwear goes past her knees, making it somewhat visible during the wide kicks.
If this year's KOF has no kimono girls, then I will have to look forward to next year's KOF (if PLAYMORE plans to make one), or wait until SEGA comes out with another Virtua Fighter or The Rumble Fish sequel (since newer installments of those games keep their kimono girls, unlike KOF).

I will say this but i agree with BLFML72. Athena is more of a magical idol not someone who wears kimono's unless i don't know the new hero of the 14 saga has a girlfriend with said attire. Let me guess you actually contacted SNK to get the outfit in the game if you want my honest opinion don't bother. It's like me wanting Hinako,Lin,Seth and Vanessa as DLC fighters. Then again i am a huge fan of KOF 2000's new comers.

I had to do this because I knew that Athena changes outfits every game, unlike the other characters. The outfit I designed was supposed to take everything to a different dimension and do something that has never been done before. I did it all, but failed miserably. The yukata and pigtails were made so there would finally be a KOF regular with pigtails (which the series never had), and there would be a backup kimono girl in case no other kimono girls (like Kasumi or Ninon) show up.

Ninon is never coming back. I am more interested in a rich character being a KOF regular to like be the Lili or Karin of the series. If you keep spamming your request it won't happen. That is like me saying Lin should come back since they need to end the Ron plot.

Few times would not be enough. I did it many times so Playmore would at least remember and get the idea to use the pigtails and yukata so they won't forget it. I can accept it if Playmore abridged my yukata, but it's too late.

News flash: at last, The King of Fighters XIV is finally getting a Windows release through Steam. It will be the very first mod-friendly KOF, and modding the game can be done more easily thanks to the engine of how the game runs.
When the Windows version of KOFXIV comes out the day before my birthday, I can call a modder to make a costume mod for Athena where she wears a yukata and has her hair in pigtails. At least this would satisfy over my kimono girl dilemma for KOF.

Would be very nice if they did bring some DLC characters for KOF 14, 1 per team but I doubt it'll happen but atleast we get some dlc costumes like Classic Kyo and Nightmare Geese.

KOF15 will no doubt have a ton of stuff to explain. Can't really just have a simple arcade mode story like the other games for this one. But to be fair that means they would have to work with a ton of characters for a story mode.

For the teams in KOF 14, I found most of them to be too generic, I mean they're great teams Japan Team, Fatal Fury, AOF, Ikari and Psycho Soldiers but I was thinking they should have their newcomers who didn't join the KOF yet.

I do like the official invitation team everyone else was okay in terms of newcomers. Kind of wish we learnt more about Kukri since he is my fave character of that game he steals the show.

Yeah Kukri is pretty cool, But for KOF 14 I was expecting to have Botan in the game, Why didn't they add her? But instead in KOF 13 They added Saiki and Evil Ash who're Sprite swaps of Ash but with unfair AI, that's just Lazy.

With Saiki he isn't too bad, Evil Ash on the other hand is the problem. Just cause like you said he is just a palette swap of Ash. To be honest i am not a huge fan of Orochi i don't know i find him to be a bland villain and him returning wouldn't be a good idea. I guess in terms of KOF bosses i like would be Mukai or Antonov. Atleast They decided to have a better boss like Antonov who's based off Triple H and Verse, For the characters in the teams, I was thinking of Yuki for Japan Team, Maria, Kaoru or Asuka for the Psycho Soldiers Team and Rock for the Fatal Fury Team since he's Terry's adopted son and Botan for the Official Invitation Team replacing Mian and let her help Shun'Ei and Meintenkun in the China Team

Interesting choices. I can see that for KOF14 and i would a new garou team Bonnie,Gato and Hotaru but in all honesty, it's an excuse so they can be playable once again. I guess an Elisabeth team would be cool cause they need a Tales of Ash representative Tizoc doesn't really count since he is from Fatal Fury.

If KOFXV has no kimono girls or tag-team battles, I'm not getting it.
With the KOFXIV DLC Leak List being fake, not all of your favorite characters would be in the game. If another set of DLC shadows appear, and if one of them appears to be wearing a hakama, expect it to be Todo from the first Art of Fighting. I'm still going to predict that there will be no kimono girls at all, and that PLAYMORE wouldn't care at all.
