A pen sketch inspired by Stephen Gammell, artist of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (thus the title) books.Anyway, fudged with the sketch in Photoshop to make it a little more than a pen sketch.

Alvin Schwartz was the author of the books. The artist who did all the creepy illustrations was Stephen Gammell.

it inspires me, its beautiful. i think it might have looked a little better with a watercolor wash. but other than that, i think its great

I was going to try a watercolor wash, but because the pen I used was not waterproof it would have turned into a unidentifiable mess. Might try something similar with the proper tools though. Thanks.

There's probably some influence from Nightmare Before Christmas just because I love that style so much, but I wasn't thinking about it when drawing... subconscious.

I love the music of Danny Elfman. Oingo Boingo.. is okay. I think he has made much improvement with time. That and I personally appreciate symphonic compositions more than pop music.

Love how the thin thin lines just come in to the moon area...very lovely work, so fragile and scarry in the same time... It looks almost like those old japaneese pen drawings..

Very nice! I like that texture, it's like hair with the wisps of line. I think it would look cool to give the whole thing a slight green or amber tinge.
