Aw, yeah, what all you Pokemon fans (that is, those of you who have actually been keeping up to date with the series until now) have been waiting for~. The upgrade of this game to 6th gen physics! This is gonna be good now. XD

And of course, yes, I have been following 4th gen physics until now since for one, that was the current gen when this game was first released, and for another, I figure that the humor coming from the generation physics update would by far work the best at this late point in the storyline. But I'm sure you can all figure out why. *cough* dragons *cough*

So Jiggylpuff turns on her weakness to Steel-type moves, and gains 1 type that deals neutral damage (if she knew a move with that type)...

I love the last panel! It would be easier against Palkia if Vulpix actually can learn Energy Ball. Or Skitty going Play Rough against Dialga and Palkia.Β

Isn't Dialga half steel-type, though? Then the steel type moves would be super-effective, if she changed top fairy type. But hey, at least the dragon-type moves won't effect her ^^

By the way, I am really liking these comics so far! Keep up the good work!

Galactic-Rainbow In reply to ZuesKillerProduction [2016-01-24 01:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Because this is the first battle against an actual Dragon-type and as such it would be the best time to use it!

Though really, it does make the next comic all the funnier, and for the most part, I was thinking, "Let's have these comics follow the games as closely as possible *before* throwing in the idea to update them to 6th gen mechanics at this perfect time." Β As for if she could have used it earlier, hm...that's a good question. She could have if the offscreen battles against other Dragon-types or the Sableye were a real thing.

That moment when you realize... that insanely hard battle would have been a curb-stomp battle that made the Legendary look like a wimpy loser because of a rule change that was made AFTER the battle ended.

Pokemon 6th Gen mark the introduction of the new 18th new "Fairy" type (wich is super effective against Dragon while being completely immune to it) with pokemon from older generation being uppgraded with it (such as Jigglypuff), while "rebalancing" the other types effectiveness ; "Steel" type has lost it's resistance against "Ghost" and "Dark", making pokemon like Metagross vulnerable to the likes of Gengar (it gains both an effectiveness and a resistance to Fairy though.)

In other words this fight would go a lot easier since Dialga's signature move "Roar of Time" is a "Dragon" move and that Jigglypuff, being a "Fairy" type, is completely immune to it (Chikorita would still get her ass handed over her though...)

Until now.Β

But Steel type?...
Ah, screw it, that's not the move you're scared of when fighting Dialga.

Out of question, are you doing the second half of the plot as well?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Galactic-Rainbow In reply to Man-in-crowd-4 [2016-01-23 17:49:11 +0000 UTC]

Second half... You mean all of that post-game stuff involving Shaymin and Scizor and Manaphy and Team Charm and Darkrai and...(etc.)?

In a sense, yes. However, there will be far fewer comics of that, as I sort of end up glossing over quite a bit of it. I might end up eventually going back to them if I think of any new jokes, as I have actually managed to think of like five new ones regarding the Spinda Cafe alone. (But since that cafe doesn't factor into the story at all, it makes sense that I'd save those for like the end for random misadventures and whatnot.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Man-in-crowd-4 In reply to Galactic-Rainbow [2016-01-24 18:37:51 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough. There isn't nearly so much overarching plot in that half, after all - not until all that stuff with Azuril if we're honest. So I get how there's less to mention.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Galactic-Rainbow In reply to Man-in-crowd-4 [2016-01-24 18:50:03 +0000 UTC]

The ironic thing is that it *could* potentially turn into an overarching plot on it own--if Grovyle was brought back along with the hero after the end. Potentially one where he learns to deal with how to live in a now peaceful world after everything he's been through in the dark future. And through these events, he learns how, particularly if he made friends with Scizor, who, as a fellow person who is out of place in the present, he could relate to and confide in.Β

But that was just an idea I had for a potential prose-related fanfiction, and I'm not too sure if I could actually go ahead and write it without thinking it through a little more.Β

Man-in-crowd-4 In reply to Galactic-Rainbow [2016-01-24 19:16:29 +0000 UTC]

That's actually a really interesting concept. I'd be up for reading that, although it may not fit in the mostly gag-based comics so far. A separate series? I don't know. But it definitely sounds cool.

My personal favourite concept for a fic in this universe is that Explorers of Sky is a loop in time at the end of Explorers of Time/Darkness, and the team from Time/Darkness waking up to discover that everything's reset and someone new has arrived, going through the exact same trials they did and that they still remember. Even down to the new arrival being a human from the future too. Which gets even more mind-screwy, if that means that they know everything that's going to happen for the next few months before it happens.
But maybe that's just me messing with ideas so that I don't have to choose which of my teams I consider to be canon. Curse their lovable writing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Galactic-Rainbow In reply to Man-in-crowd-4 [2016-01-24 19:21:47 +0000 UTC]

Most likely, it will have to be like a separate series altogether. Or some kind of parallel universe to my current series as if everything that happened was as serious as it was in the normal games instead of being 4th wall breaking and silly.Β

Ooh, that's also an interesting concept. And considering how the very first quiz question of Explorers of Sky is "Have you played Explorers of Time/Darkness before?" or something like that, it's certainly something that could potentially be explored. It would kind of be like Undertale, but in reverse, as instead of everyone else getting the feeling that they've been through all this before, it's the player characters.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Man-in-crowd-4 In reply to Galactic-Rainbow [2016-01-24 20:13:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, that too. That'd be a pretty big tone change.

I haven't played Undertale, so I can't comment on that, but I think I know what you mean. Particularly interesting would be the bits that aren't exactly the same second time around - Spinda Cafe, Mt. Sky, all that stuff.Β

little-shining-fox [2016-01-23 17:35:23 +0000 UTC]

Um, actually it wouldn't be to OP. Amy would be pure Fairy type...but Dialga is Dragon/Steel...so even though she'd beat him in terms of fairy..he'd beat her in terms of steel.

DimentionJumper [2016-01-23 17:20:16 +0000 UTC]

So If you could switch battles like that does this mean that there is more switches that include all of the other battle physics?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Galactic-Rainbow In reply to DimentionJumper [2016-01-23 17:23:26 +0000 UTC]

Theoretically, that could be the case.

Though then things would get crazy weird and overpowered, so for the sake of this comic series, it's the only switch there is.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DimentionJumper In reply to Galactic-Rainbow [2016-01-23 17:28:02 +0000 UTC]
