Description Voice of the Machine

There is no intelligence
There is no design
The only laws that are
Are mine for all time

Walk off a cliff when I lead you there
Forget all you know, for I don't care
I am created by what I create
I am the product of all that I hate
I control more than you'll ever know
And if you see through truth*
There will still be no way to slow
The gears now in motion
Of progress and power
The cogs of enslavement
Of fear by the hour

Voice of the Media

The Crippling Machine Stays and Stands
Far and Wide Across All Lands
His Justice is Logic, Reason, and Rhyme
Society's Survival Means Death at the First Sign
Of Resisting True Justice, For Justice is Blind

The first Observation [link]

These fields are haunted by
a thousand men who died
to stop this holy war
to stop this holy war
I can whisper their names
Or shout to the ceiling
Something has to change
To many people died believing
That they would see the day
When your just a pile of gears
Harmless after all these years
You Crippling Machine

Voice of the Masses

We play his game
We fight his fight
We live to die and sleep at night

We Know whats wrong from lack of right
A life born in pain, fear, and strife
A life devoid of all forms of light

The Second Observation [link]

What exactly do you fight for
Ill tear you apart no diplomacy
I make sure to sabotage your circuitry
Until one day you and I stop this war

Voice of Resistance

Keep Moving, Keep Fighting
For all of us are dying
Hunted and shunned by Earth
These times are truly trying

What it will come down to
Time and Time again
Will you stand, fight, and fall
A soldier among friends

Or will you die alone
Traitorous but free
One who sells his soul to live
A life of misery

The Machine's Primary Directive

I will kill you and you will die
Because I can and you aren't I

The Final Observation [link]

In the aftermath of motors, extra parts
Someone is going to salvage your heart
But I don't care its your eyes Ill consider
Burning first. Then your fists and your fingers
You're not escaping the chains you made us wear
For hate doesn't respect you, hate doesn't care

Hello, as you can see this poem went a bit long, in the voices of many different perspectives. You can also see that this image doesn't exactly fit with the other pieces, or it is the most dark of them anyway. Crippling Machine was inspired by the Film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed [link] I highly suggest you check it out. Its a documentary about our scientific community and how anyone who even brings up the idea of intelligent design as a possible theory is fired and blacklisted from future employment in the scientific community. I was also inspired by the song Crippling Machine by Rotterdam November. I LOVE IT. That's where the links mid poem lead you to, because the voice of the observer is lyrics from that song. So basically I was very upset, because when I look at our school systems I see a flawed machine, one that stops any form of questioning using images and symbols that evolutionary biologists long ago proved false and misleading concerning Darwin's theories. Leave a post about this if you wish to question me further and Ill leave a more detailed explanation.

Anyway, since I used their lyrics in my poem I have to at least say thank you by directing you to their site [link] and hoping you check out their music. Specifically Crippling Machine
Also thanks to Jason for posing for this photo, and thanks to Mr. Zombie for letting me photograph your classroom.
On a related note thank you for never teaching any of my classes, I gotta say you're a pretty terrible teacher, and a bit of a creeper of a person as well. But if not for that then you probably wouldn't have such an awesome skeleton with a broken jaw being the closest thing to your desk now would you?

So here my question for project comment members

1. What do you think of the subject matter described above?

I think this is a great conceptual piece, because it really makes you think, not only about the art, but also about the poem, and how they exactly fit. You should really consider placing it in the conceptual gallery. I love the gears- reminds me of the imagery from Pink Floyd's 'Brick in a Wall' video, when the kids are going through the meat grinder. It's a very art deco piece. As a stock provider, I would like to see the stock you use listed, but it a refreshing piece.

Thanks for the comment!
This one unfortunately isn't in a gallery but 3 others from the series are in a public display, and one was featured in a gallery for a short time. Yes, I always try to put a poem with each piece of the series, all the ideas came from dreams. In this one I had been walking through a burnt city, watching people run from spot to spot in the rubble when the voices in the poem began.

Coincidentally I woke up with the song playing on my computer. I realized it in part must have helped the dream as well.

I loved that music video! I saw it first when I was like 7, at that age I was totally freaked by it at first but I still loved it.

As for the images the shot of the room, Skeleton included is actually the desk of a Mr. Jameson Zomberly, a teacher at my old high school.
He was a creep, seriously the type of guy you know will end up on the news for molesting a student someday. But I am indebted to his creepiness, why else would he keep a skeleton with a broken Jaw in the room? The guy in the Mask is my friend Jason, who was kind enough to wear a suit to school that day. Ha, it's the only day of his life that I have ever seen him in one.

The mask was based on a Chinese theater mask image I saw online, I cant remember where though unfortunately.

I enjoy this piece of art, especially the "*"... this gives it the last little push into that "don't trust anyone" direction, if you know what I mean.
And... I think that I recognise John Travolta in the masked teacher's mask^^
Do you see it, too?

Thanks, yes that was part of the intention.
To have a contrast of teaching and results.
Notice how the skeleton could either be simply part of the classroom or a foreshadow to ones placement in the future, it sits between the paperwork and the computer of the hopeless cubicle job another drudge fed student will get for their years of trouble.

Wow, John Travolta, how did he get in there?

Great ... I don't know about the large gears on the background of the black/whiteboard. I think it might be more effective without it. But overall, great piece! Digging the message!

Hmmm perhaps it would have, I just didn't like that much empty space at the time, but that was near the beginning when I hadn't added the masked man and the other gears yet.

Ah, I could see that. Just think it might get that "schoolroom" effect a bit better, but it works as is.

Perhaps it would still, I may have to go find the background file and see if it makes a significant difference.

Thanks, that's kinda what I went for, it is my darkest piece to be sure, but when compared to its basis, isn't nearly dark enough.

Yeah, Expelled was a pretty good movie. It shows that it is just as easy to let your disbelief in something prevent you from learning as it is to let your beliefs get in the way.

Admittedly some of the arguments by intelligent design are orchestrated by zealots without any real training, but so is a lot of science. The bottom line is that Religion explains "why we are here" and "what we should do" while Science explains "how things work" and they get into trouble when they try to cross over into the other things.

I saw that video at work. I should rent it someday. I find it hard to respect scientists, and you'd think with Einstein and all the other geniuses throughout time believing in God it would make today's scientists go "Hey, they were right" but no. They're too engulfed in their false beliefs and lies to see the truth. Man they anger me.
Anyway, the piece is awesome. It is a lot darker than your usual stuff, but it's really cool. And kinda creepy.
10 out of 10.
