Description
Ilona (Ee-lo-nah) is the main character of: archiveofourown.org/works/2845… - "Castlevania, Huntress of Darkness" fanfiction story (set after season 3 of Castlevania anime). This character sheet contains spoilers for the story.

Strange rumor circles among people - that castle dropped from the sky. Two bodies were found rotting on spikes in front of it, and worried humans offer a large bounty in hopes to get rid of the monster that supposedly lives in the castle.

Ilona is trying not to meddle. To avoid any conflict and keep a low profile. However, rumors claim that there's a vampire within the castle... and the castle is most probably Castlevania, which makes Ilona rather intrigued.

The huntress herself is of noble origins, and comes from family that used to be very close to Dracula. After a fallout with her father, Ilona gets away from family's manor and starts wandering around, killing monsters.

APPEARANCE:

Ilona has thick, long and wavy ravenous hair. She has distinctive purple eyes due to mutation. Her skin is very pale and her built is thin but athletic. People often underestimate her upon meeting her, since she looks petite and somewhat fragile. However, her complexion can be rather deceiving since Ilona has agility, strength and speed that surpasses regular human abilities.

On the road, she usually wears large, dark cloaks with big hoods in order to hide her features. Her outfits usually contain baggy linen shirts, leather trousers and black boots. Out of accessories, she carries leather gloves and belts with holders for her daggers and her main weapon - silver armory sword.

PERSONALITY:

Ilona is very cautious, sometimes to the point of being a bit paranoid. She usually travels alone, preferring solitude over working with large groups of people. She occasionally joins hunter guilds, but she prefers hunting on her own. As a child, she enjoyed luxury and refined things so she has a hard time to part with quality items that are still in her possession. Her gloves, boots and her broch sometimes lure vagabonds and road-thieves. She still has taste for luxurious things, as well as refined food, wine and delicacies. She also loves good horses, Gara being her long-lasting companion on many quests. She always keeps money and weapons on her person rather than placing them on her horse.

Ilona is a smart person, but quick to anger. She is trying to change this aspect of her personality. She is also trying to be more sensible rather than sensitive. She often reprimands herself for being too proud, too stubborn and on occasion very indecisive.

Despite many flaws, Ilona is extremely loyal to people she cares about. She is also a true friend, and is very generous. But, Ilona hates norms (she took swordsmanship from the young age in the attempt to prove her father she was equally capable of doing what boys were practicing, and to make him see her as equally valuable despite not being born as a son).

HISTORY:

As daughter of Hungarian voivode Bathory, she was groomed to get married for political reasons. It was planned for her to marry someone of her father's choosing, to strengthen his position and influence. Justina, Ilona's mother, educated her in reading, writing and world's history, (both Hungarian and Serbian). Ilona's relationship with her father was rather difficult. More than once, Ilona would oppose him, risking his fury. As a child, she found Istvan intimidating and feared for both lives of her mother and herself, despite her mother being stronger and more capable comparing to Istvan.

She was sickly as child, somehow malnourished despite all the commodities she had as member of a noble household. She'd often live on relation of Hungary-Serbia, and later Transylvania. As a child, she didn't understand why she differed so much comparing to other children.

When she was around seven, Justina brought her to Castlevania for the first time. There, Ilona met the family of fearsome Vlad Tepes, known as Dracula among commoners.

Ilona was closer to her uncle, Dragoslav, than to her own father. Her uncle wasn't kind or particularly fond of her, but he was efficient; he taught Ilona how to fight, how to use sword, and told her that she didn't need to be man to be strong, which helped her a great deal in discovering who she wanted to be when she became older.

During her adolescence, she spent a lot of time with Adrian Tepes, whom she considered her oldest friend. They ended it on bad terms, though. Adrian decided to recover from wounds that his father inflicted on him, choosing to sleep under the city of Gresit for a century. Ilona took it rather personally.
