After seeing ongoing episodes of GANGSTA. anime, I just had to make an OC. I know, I know, it's Ezra's birthday and all, but Vera just came up randomly and I had to create her. Ezra will get her birthday chapter soon!

She is often seen in her standard business attire – black suit and blue shirt which are her favorite combination. Black suit is practical when Vera gets hired as gun-girl too. At home, she feels comfortable in white linen shirt, jeans and trainers. The robe she often wears during her Go-Go performances is made of black leather, straps and fishnets, and her attire often includes halters. She is wearing her hair up during the pole-dance. She wasn’t comfortable with being almost-nude in front of others, but grew to be less and less ashamed regarding this requirement. At special occasions, when formal dressing is required, Vera likes to wear long, dark-red dress with matching gloves. She is highly appealing and attracts a lot of attention, despite trying to avoid all that.

Vera is hard-working woman who tries her best to stay out of disputes and as far away from criminal activities as she can - which is difficult since she lives in the city of crimes, surrounded by criminals and thugs. She is melancholic, and doesn’t trust people. She is a loner, but not antisocial. By nature, Vera is lovable, and easy to be around. Her co-workers usually love being around her, since she is responsible, nice and mostly keeps to herself - but Vera has a hard time to find a decent, full-time job. She doesn’t like her night profession and doesn’t enjoy performing, but it brings her better money than her daily job in the bookstore. She spends a lot of time reading and re-designing her home.

BACKGROUND

When she was a child, her whole family was slaughtered in mafia wars. Her family previously participated in drug dealing and smuggling, as well as in weapon-transportation to other countries. The Rinaldis owed a lot of money to other families. Vera’s father, Gianluca, didn’t know how to pay them up - so he was killed brutally along with his wife and Vera’s siblings… and the fortune of Rinaldis dispersed, because it was divided among the killers. Vera was the only one to survive due to being in another country at the time. She was targeted by several assassins but managed to get away thanks to distant relatives who sent her away to Ergastulum - for better or for worse.

PLOT

Vera was born in a wealthy family, but is part of the working class in Ergastulum now. She often changes jobs, and mostly tries to avoid conflicts. It doesn’t go as smoothly as she wishes for it to be, but Vera can take care of herself because she had a good tutor.

Shortly after coming to the city, she met Kostya Sokolov, a Twilight male who became her friend, and later, her romantic interest. (He used to be a soldier, serving as part of the military until he was framed for several misdeeds and was chased away to Ergastulum too). His tag rank was B/3, and he worked as body-guard for Corsica family for a while. After that, he switched to a position of bartender in nightclub “Fever”. Vera and Kostya were living together until his early death.

Working in a bookstore doesn’t really pay off, and she rarely has costumers there. For additional income, she is forced to work at night-club “Fever”. She is a Go-Go girl and does the pole dance. She used to work in one of the casinos of Monroe family, but an incident that involved shady clientele forced her to quit that job and find something less dangerous.

RELATIONSHIPS

Kostya Sokolov – Kostya was a Twilight, but he was allowed to fight as a soldier with normal people. However, he was framed for several grave war crimes, and sent to Ergastulum where he met Vera. He protected her, and acted as her guardian. The two fell in love, and started dating. It lasted for a few years, until Kostya started showing serious signs of illness/withdrawals that every Twilight is bound to face sooner or later. It turned out that his Celebrer was wrongly manufactured (according to tests of dr. Theo) which caused quick deterioration of his health in general. He was nauseous, had convulsions and hypothermia, dealt with migraines and constant feeling of pain. During one of his frequent hallucinations, he went berserk and attacked Vera, who ended up in a hospital wing.

Kostya died at the age of 27, and Vera was devastated. Losing him left a huge impact on her - she avoided romantic-based emotional relationships for a long time after him.

Worick Arcangelo - Vera used to work with both Worick and Nic on few occasions, and assisted them with several missions. Their collective relationship is professional, but also friendly.

Worick often teases Vera and challenges her. He is somewhat protective over her, but not too much since he knows that she can take care of herself. He considers her to be quite endurable, skillful and smart – features which she demonstrated during the fiasco after the incident in the Monroe casino. She was targeted by several groups of an elite mafia-clan, and things were dragging on – but she did well. However, she was in grave danger, so after seeing that she can’t handle them all alone, she asked for Worick’s help. He agreed and invited her to stay with him and Nic for a while, until the danger passes. It took them some time to locate and hunt down every member of that clan, but they did it… and a few weeks later, Vera decided to move into her own place.

As with most women, Worick often flirts with Vera, and she finds him charming. He often stops by to “Fever” to watch her dance, and books the first-row seat. She doesn’t even get embarrassed by this anymore, but he is persistent in his intention to get a lap dance from her (which is commonly reserved for strippers, not Go-go dancers). Vera doesn’t hold this against him, but also, doesn’t have an intention to lap-dance for him either. He made a habit out of invading her personal space, but she got used to it.

Whether they are more than friends or not… is not known.

Nicolas Brown - Nic was pretty indifferent when he first met Vera. She wasn’t aware that he was deaf, so she thought that he was just being rude until she found out that he can’t hear. Moreover, she didn’t know the sign-language, and Nic refused to read whatever she was writing down for him. Things were difficult for her in the beginning, because Nic was harsh, but she found the way to get through to him - she started teasing him and chasing him around to get his attention. The two have even fought several times due to her provoking, and naturally, he always had the upper hand. However, whenever Vera managed to bring out Nick’s smile, she considered that she was the winner.

Nic is pretty relaxed around Vera now, and often messes her hair up, which slightly annoys her. She gets childish around him and pulls his cheeks in return and pinches him.

Whether they are more than friends or not… is not known.

Chad Adkins - Occasionally hires Vera along with Benriya duo, but often warns her to stay out of the harm’s way. Ever since she showed up in Ergastulum, Chad kept close eye onto her, feeling pity for the girl. He often states that she should move somewhere else when she collects enough money, but still cares a lot for her because he knows that people who butchered the Rinaldi family are still somewhere out there. Vera knows it too. She respects Chad tremendously, and the two sometimes go out to have a lunch. She regards him as father figure.

Dr. Theo - Vera met dr. Theo through Kostya. Whenever she needs patching up after risky missions, she looks for him. Theo helped a lot when Konstantin was ill, and she values the good doctor for all that he’s done. She is also very fond of Nina and often buys sweets to treat her.

ABILITIES

Being former soldier, Kostya had admirable set of skills that he passed on Vera. He taught her the basic use of guns, knives, some basic defense moves, as well as combat practice. She was able to take on several thug groups that crossed her way – but she isn’t the proud type who stays to fight at all costs. If she estimates that she is weaker, she will flee and try to hide. She values her life above her pride.

She prefers guns to other weapons, and always keeps one on her while going out. She is very stealthy, and her body is very agile.

She is good at home-made things and making jewelry.

She is very good at pole-dancing. She practiced several dances when she was a little girl, and one of them was ballet.
