Description
We have already met So'Ja, the orc survivor whose path to becoming a member of the Brigade has been a rocky one, which is definitely an understatement. So'Ja is widow of an abusive warlock, who treated her as no more than a common house slave and an occasional source of life force where demonic bargains demanded. Despite being beaten, abused and mistreated in ways hard to imagine, which left her malnourished and her body scarred, So'Ja never lost her spirit and the will to resist and fight - the main source of her strength being her two children, Aira and Gerrath.
Today we are finally going to meet one of them! Fierce, cunning and full of energy, Aira is the older of the siblings, and by far the more willful and independent one. Where Gerrath stays close to his mother for mutual protection, Aira rushes out to meet any adversaries and problems that might befall the orc family.
She seeks out confrontation, but not blindly and in a careless way. She is cunning, intelligent and fierce when it comes to combat, being deadly with a bow and able to stand on her own if the enemy draws too close. That doesn't happen very often, as she is adept in laying all kinds of wicked traps to soften the 'prey' up, or imobilize and incapacitate it.
While still sharing a deep bond with her family, she spends a lot of time outdoors, both hunting for food and patrolling with the Brigade's scouts. She is very protective of her younger brother, whom she sees as slightly gullible and vulnerable to the dangers of the outside world.
I have finished this piece a few months back while experimenting with a new way of working on my portraits. The aim was a faster process with a bit more definition, using slightly different brush set. I hope you like the final outcome! (if you don't watch out for beartraps on your way to the bathroom ).
