Description A beautiful old Australian Gum Tree (Eucalypt) stands alone, in a grassy paddock, as the afternoon sun glows upon it. Went for a drive this afternoon (a split decision one after a huge argument with my mum) and first of all headed down the Obi Obi and to Kenilworth, stopping and tkaing photos along the way. Stopping for a herd of jersey cows after they'd been milked n were being moved back to their lovely green pasture and then from Kenilworth, along the road to Conondale and up to Maleny. I saw this little road about 20kms towards Maleny from Kenilworth and down this little dirt track was this tree in the paddock to the side...so I stopped and took some photos...oh yeah sorry for long comentary!!

No apologies for the long commentary needed, it brings back fond memories of weekends driving all over this region and summer days spent at Kondalilla for a swim. There is plenty to photograph in that area but now many of the roads I used to travel are closed off to public access.
The lighting makes this look like an old oil painting.

I'm sorry, just reading through some of these comments and thought, did someone mention chocolate. Is amamor (I cant spell) where they have the Gympie muster? If so, then I have been there 3 times lol.
I've always loved this pic Kate.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I hope you waved at me in Gympie as you drove past!
Did you go up the highway and turn off to Kenilworth that way, or take the Ammamoor turnoff?

Drove from Mapleton (which is my stomping ground lol ) and dwn the Obi Obi, through the valley, up to Kenilworth then onto Conondale and onto Maleny.

But, we camp at Amamoor (Cedar Grove) a few times each year, so usually drive from Mapleton up to Kenilworth then the back way to Amamoor, but have rellies in Gympie (know any Walkers in Gympie, Imbil? lol) so sometimes we firstly stop in there! Love the Mary Valley, it the most amazing place!!

I need more time (n fuel moneys) to go for a good decent adventure!!

Thanks for the compliment on the photo!!

My friends who live down the road own a chocolate shop in Mapelton! It's "Criollo’s Chocolatterie"
My daughter went to school with some 'Walkers' but I'm not sure of their names.
I know Cedar Grove rather well... it's probably the closest camp ground to where we live, just down the road and around a few corners... so to speak.
When you come off the highway at the Amamoor turnoff, when you eventually get to an off centre intersection, you go straight to Amamoor, well, if you turn right, you would eventually come to the turn off to where I live. Small world hey!

Dave (Wendy's hubby) makes the chocolates, and he also makes kayaks. On the odd occasion when he needs a hand to join the molds together for the kayaks, he will ring to see if I'm free to give him a hand. And what do I get in reward for my help??? a sample of chocolate! Yuuuuuuuummmmmm!!!!!
