After hearing that Toei Animation will be working with Gust on a new original title, that got me excited.
Before I heard that their new project was an original title, I thought it was gonna be based on an existing Anime series. So, I was looking back on some of Toei's past projects, seeing if the new game was based on any of the existing titles. Then on Google search, I ran into one of their MIA projects that was announced back in 2012.

Miraculous Ladybug.
Before that that, I do remember somebody cosplaying as Ladybug back in Anime North 2016. I was utterly confused and thought those people who were cosplaying as Ladybug were just mix-matching the character with Violet from Pixar's The Incredibles XD

The backstory development of the series was pretty interesting and Toei Animation was involved with it, yes.
Originally, the first concept of the series started out as an Anime adaption by Toei. After their success with Heartcatch Precure The Movie, which took place in France, Paris, it was gonna be an easy chore. Plus, Toei has worked with many Magical Girl Anime series, so they were on-track. However, after the promo trailer, two negative factors caused some major impact and reconsiderations by the team. One, the Japanese audiences weren't too fond with it. Two, the animators were stressed out dealing with Ladybug's spots on her suit.

In the end, they shifted to CGI, but that wasn't Toei's decision. They just experimented and promoted the trailer on behalf of the original creator.
However, rumours say Toei will actually make the series, but as a web-series instead. Nothing long or as special as the CGI one which aired last year.

And you know where this was going. After discovering the Anime adaption, I went straight to the drawing board.
