I also implied in the description that it's her way of getting some exercise, meaning she did it to herself and is using it as motivation to push harder.
I don't personally think of Derpy as mentally handicapped or anything, just that she's unorthodox about how she goes about things and enjoys having fun with what she does.
Just seems a little harsh to just come out and call her stupid.

But to be fair, there is a lot of art of Derpy getting stuck in mailboxes, killing others with pianos. Etc. Etc. I thought this was another one of those.
So I'll take it back. Derpy, in this image at least, is not stupid.

Yeah, I will admit there is a lot out there like that.
In addition to my previous comments, and related to those other works, I do view her as being rather clumsy. More to do with her presumably bad eyesight than any sort of motor skills deficiency, which kind of goes again with this picture in that to get exercise, she's keeping herself away from anything she might run into to avoid any potential accidents (Though that wasn't what went through my head while making it, honestly I just thought it'd be silly and cute).
