First I apologize for virtually disappearing for a while: life has a way of getting in the way like playing Spyro every waking minute and getting engaged.

ANYWAY! After getting my new character Lightning Spark from , I really wanted to draw him with his best friend, Feather Dart. I was also heavily inspired by 's doodle dumps (such as this beauty ), so now we have this piece! As frustrating this became, it was also immensely calming and really makes me think about my NG characters, so I'm hoping to do more pieces like this one.

With all that said, I present a few tidbits of the friendship of these two pegasi!

1) Lightning Spark and Feather Dart met as school aged colts, both almost completely opposite of each other. Taking after his Aunt Fluttershy, Dart was a somewhat reserved colt and easily startled. Meanwhile, Lightning was a loud mouthed pegasus colt with no sense of reading others. Despite their first encounter, Dart and Lightning quickly grew inseparable both in and outside of school: both pegasi loved bolting out of Ponyvile School and racing towards the park where they spent their energies racing among the clouds.

2) As children of Wonderbolts (Rainbow Dash being Dart's mother and Thunderlane being Lightning's father), both colts aspired to be just like their parents: to be Wonderbolts! Both colts were obsessed: they collected trading cards, attended all the Wonderbolt practices and races, and even played pretend with their parent's Wonderbolt uniforms! Both colts also shared the same interests besides the Wonderbolts, such as racing, comics, and just playing.

3) When Dart and Lightning reached their awkward puberty years, the colts decided that they needed new mane-dos to look like stallions. However, they didn't want to go to a girly salon, oh no, they decided to try and cut and style each others' manes like the movie stars. Obviously neither colt knew what they were doing, and so butchered their manes. When their mothers found out, both mares reacted heavily (Rarity nearly fainted while Rainbow tried to stifle a laugh). In an attempt to save their manes, Rarity dragged both colts to a salon where professionals fixed their manes as best they could. Horrified by the event, Lightning let his "lush lion's mane" grow out while Dart maintained his shorter mane-do.

4) Dart and Lightning both share a talent in flying which no pony can deny: both stallions also share a competitive streak, especially with each other. Both colts seem to bring the best out of each other, the two constantly trying to prove who is the better flier. When it came time to try out for the Wonderbolts, both Dart and Lightning flew the reserve course with ease, and both claimed a spot on the Wonderbolts Reserve as young adults, a new academy record. Captain Spitfire loves pitting the stallions against each other in competitions specifically because she knows both Dart and Lightning will compete to their best abilities and also work together when needed.

5) As young adult stallions, Dart and Lightning are quite different: Lightning grew into a "mare's stallion" with enough confidence and suave to woo any mare, meanwhile Dart kept his reserved but almost "dorky"/awkward nature while also becoming more "down to earth" in his relationships, both friendships and otherwise. Regardless of their many differences, Dart and Lightning remain close friends who, no matter what happens, will always be there for each other, even if it leaves Dart flustered.
