I think Jyn Erso could be a cool character for the Star Wars universe, but I won't say anything until I see the movie.

I thought the trailer was pretty meh to be honest. Jyn Erso seems to me like a cheap mash-up of Jan Ors and Mara Jade, which means we will sadly never get those two on screen.
When i first heard about Rogue One i got hyped for a Rogue Squadron movie with the lovable rogues from Legends being made canon and cool dogfights versus imperial aces, so i guess i was a fool for hoping disney would get their act together and throw a bone to the Legacy fans instead going for the easy cashgrab.

When Disney took over the Star Wars films, they made an official agreement that they would honour all the Expanded Universe novels. Β They have since gone back on that agreement.
This means no Jacen Solo (who became Darth Caedus), Anakin Solo (sacrificed his life), or Jaina Solo (Jacen's twin sister, and the one who killed Jacen).
It also means no Mara Jade Skywalker, or Ben Skywalker (Luke and Mara's son), no New Republic becoming the Galactic Alliance, no Alliance civil war, no Sith resurgence, no Yuuzan Vong war, and no New Jedi Order (no mercenary Jedi Kyle Katarn).
Disney have basically wiped out years of well thought storylines and characters, including a novel which revealed the origins of the Millennium Falcon. Β Storylines that were in progress will now remain unfinished.
Now Rogue One will change established history, as Kyle Katarn was the operative who stole the original Death Star plans, and Disney have also got plans for a young Han Solo film (Han's origins have already been told in several books).
