Description My very first attempt to make a autumn themed pendant with actual branches with leafs, instead of only roots
It was  pretty hard to sculpt the skinny branches >.<

This time I used a carnelian cabochon
The roots, leafs, moss and mushrooms are sculted on/arround the stone, baked as one piece as then painted with Citadel-Colors.

FOR SALE!!! -> www.etsy.com/de/shop/MiraCraft…

I TAKE COMMISSIONS! Just note me your wishes (Currently I´m pretty flooded with orders, so it might take a while^^)

I really like this one, it is absolutely stunning.  I'd like some time to pick your brain about how you do such an awesome wood texture, because I may want to think about getting into clay wrapping over simply wire wrapping.  Also what sort of paints d you se to pain your sculptures?

What brand of polymerclay do you use? I know with some brands, small/skinny parts can be fragile, I'm trying to figure out how to avoid that when I make smaller pieces of my own.

Ganjamira In reply to MidnightGiraffe [2014-07-19 14:37:00 +0000 UTC]

I use different brands, but mostly FIMOsoft and FIMOclassic for these arboreal pendats And I bake the clay 5-10min shorter (so 20min with 100°Celsius) so the clay gets hard but stays a bit flexible.
I use SuperSculpey-living doll too, but small details like leaves or single hairstrains get very fragile with it, why I always switch to FIMOsoft or Premo when sculpting such details^^

Very nicely done.  Love the way you did various shades of rust/brown for the leaves, to go with the stone.  Beautiful Autumn theme!  (Living In Oz, it's mid Autumn here, so I'm seeing the trees changing around me at the moment.  Excellent timing! )

Where is "Oz"? I tried to google it but nothing came up xD

CarpeDraco In reply to Ganjamira [2014-05-14 00:26:14 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome!

Ah, forgive me.  'Oz' is local slang for 'Australia'; I think it comes from locals calling themselves 'Aussies' with the accent making it sound like 'Ozzies'.

Anyway, I live approximately in the South East corner of the continent.

Aaaaaahhhhh get it! My head just got stuck between wizards amnd flying monkeys lol

Would love to visit Australia one day, so many unique landscapes aaand fanlizards

CarpeDraco In reply to Ganjamira [2014-05-15 02:06:10 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I wish we had fanlizards!  We do have a few rather unique critters tho.

This place is definitely worth the visit.  Just be aware it's a rather sizable land mass in spite of it's technically being an 'island'.  (You'd be amazed how many visitors have the misconception that it's possible to drive from one side of Oz to the other in only a day or two.  Not. Gonna. Happen.)  So make sure you have lots of time to see everything!  (One to three months ought to do it! )

P.S.  If you ever do decide to visit, message me if you'd like to meet up!

x3 I had bearded dragons for many years and still have parakeets and Rosella-parakeets and many australian finches (we have a huge outdoor aviary in our garden:love) so most of our pets are australian

Thats so funny! xD No no, I know that germany could easily fit six or seven times in/onto Oz I´m mostly interested in geolicigal structures and the wildlife, even if I don´t really want to get swimming on your coasts (we only got harmless jellyfish here and our biggests sharks are about 1feet long and eat seashells lol)

I definately will! Would be awesome

We regularly get Rosellas flying around here - the red/blue kind, and the green kind.  We also get flocks of cockatoos, usually the sulfur crested white ones, but occasionally the black ones will come by. Also several other bird species, such as the local magpie - which has a lovely voice, btw - and a little one called 'Willy Wag-tail'; local myths have them as messengers. And of course, the kookaburra; I love listening to them laugh!  We've also had the occasional koala in the area, and once had to trap and relocate a pair of brush-tailed possums who had decided to take up residence in our roof!  When camping, we ran across several 'roos & wombats, too.  (Nearly tripped over a couple wombats on the way from the toilet building to my tent one time!)

As for geological structures; I recommend the Buchan Caves, lovely!  And if you like, do a google search for Australian volcanoes - there are a couple here that have been extinct so long, you have to know what to look for to recognize the ancient caldera!  (I think they've been turned into nat'l parks, so you can visit them!)

When you visit....I hope you like cats...and dark chocolate.    I have two cats...and I have a nasty habit of making a dark chocolate fudge that I inflict on unsuspecting people. *evil grin*
