Common courtesy.Β  If you are up front with others, they will be up front with you.

In this case, she was working for a company in an earth-quake prone region, and was not used to the shaking.Β  After the quake was over (and some nice gentleman had steered to a safe location), everyone was willing to give her a hug to let her know this was normal, and nothing to be concerned about.Β  There were minor aftershocks afterward, causing light vibrations through the building, but everyone told her nothing to worry about.

Everyone at the building did their best to make her feel relaxed and at home.Β  She thought she was going to like it at the new job.
