Description
This picture has a story to it... several stories actually. First, I did this picture about in 2003. Back then, I was working at the Disney Store and we had the *Princess Collection*. Back then the Princess Collection included Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine (it's expanded since then). So, I started thinking about the OTHER Disney princesses/heroines who never get any attention. So, my mind started pondering about a Disney *Princess* Revolt, and this is what came of it.Characters from Left to Right:
Anastasia (yes, I know she's not Disney, tell that to the people who kept coming into the Disney store asking for an Anya doll!), Pocahontas, Mulan, Eilonwy, Jane, Kida, Esmeralda, and Megara. This picture was first seen on Elfwood in 2003...
Now, story #2. Characters from this picture (and another one Disney chibi pic I did) were stolent and turned into fraudulent Disney/Coke/McDs pins, and sold on Ebay. I discovered them one night whilst cruising Ebay, around... Nov/Dec of 2003. I was flabbergasted so to speak, and worked on getting the pins not sold on Ebay. I also took the Disney chibi pics down off of Elfwood, much to the dismay of the fans who loved them, but I didn't want any more characters stolen.
However, it's been a handful of years and I've decided to put the Disney Princess Revolt back up. I want people to enjoy it, as it brought a lot of laughs and joy to people.

I wasn't talking about the Disney Princess Franchise. I was just saying that she's now a Disney Princess. She's as much a Disney Princess and Dr. Frankenfurter from Rocky Horror Picture Show, and lord knows he would OUTSHINE the actual lineup.

When I first discovered this movie I went to the library and tracked down the series. ^_^ It's been a loooooong time since I've read them, but yeah - I remember finding them and seeing that The Black Cauldron wasn't the first one.

It's sad that Esmeralda got demoted. Initially we had the usual 8 and Esmeralda with Meg and Alice occasionally being brought in as guests before Tiana Merida and Rapunzel, Jane Porter also got this treatment of the "mulan princess" but revoked because unsuitable. They should really add Esmeralda back and promote Meg. Especially since Meg's purple is lilac and they can put esmeralda in the red dress just make both of them more in line with the redesigns, it's easiest with Esmeralda (just turn her star moon & star cloth into translucent sleeves and make her wrap translucent with more moon & star pattern on it.) Meg will still sub for someone on occasion so her redesign just needs to be given some organza and more suitable footwear and a new belt if they put her in. Alice does this too but I'd rather that Alice were part of the Disney heroes line in place of Philip & Maleficent (one line per character) especially since everything is backwards in Wonderland that means that Alice isn't actually the princess of hearts.

Yeah, the more "classic" styled princess make it in easily, but the more rough and tumble girls don't. Or just when a new movie comes out with a princess in it and then they add her in, because little girls want things with her on it.
Is the Disney Hero line still active? When I worked at the Disney Store way back in like... the early 2000s, the Disney Hero line was just introduced. I remember looking at the action figures of Aladdin, Hercules, Peter Pan...hmm...I don't remember the other two, and I believe they started with five. But Peter Pan was hilarious. They'd made a super buff body mold and used it on all five of the base characters. Which worked great for Hercules, was...just passable for Aladdin, but ridiculous for Peter Pan.

That is true, new equals good to them. I wish the Prince line was as popular with boys as their counterparts. All 10 official ones (eleven if Phoebus hadn't been demoted like his wife) men make good examples of how a boy should want to be like in their disney interpretations. I think Shang, Eric, Florian (The Prince) and Aladdin are the most popular ones there because they actually appear to do something, even if Florian was hard to develop. Although I'm glad Anna wasn't added to the line given that Frozen is more for the older crowd and the other princesses are more for the really young ones.
I don't think the hero line is active anymore... Princess and if they bothered with Prince always outsells everything because most kids want to be royal, also the other characters Philip for sure and the other i think was Tarzan, and yeah Peter Pan isn't supposed to have visible muscles in his arm. He's an adopted fairy child, he has magic to do the heavy lifting for him, if he has any muscle it should be just enough to use a sword properly, no more than that.

Poor Eilonwy. Disney won't let her into their Princess Collection because they're ashamed that the Care Bares movie made more money than the Black Cauldron.

Ahahha! It wasn't until you posted that I remember reading about it somewhere on the Internet. There was just so much going against The Black Cauldron during production. It got turned into the crazy cousin you never talk about at gatherings of any sort.

Meg and Kida totally need to be Disney princesses! I'm ok with Eilonwy and Jane, becoming princesses too. Mulan became a Disney princess, so that came true. ^^ Did Pocahontas become a Disney yet? I thought she did, but I may be wrong... And Anya doesn't really count since she's not Disney. If she was hoever, I would hope she would be considered a princess too.
That's my thoughts on the subject, anyway.

Pocahontas did become one, I don't remember what year she was added. But it did happen. And yes, Anya doesn't count - I totally lost track of how many times I had to tell people we don't carry Anastasia dolls when I worked at the Disney store years ago. Lots of people just assume it's a movie about a girl who learns she's a princess, there's music, it's animated - it must be Disney!
