I feel deep inside we all want similar things, but because we are rooted to fear and emphasize different problems, we take different approaches to how we can achieve that common goal. Part of why I wrote an essay on why we shouldn't even have political parties (but rather voice our own opinion for what they are) is because it is a great way to separate people from finding that common ground. It turns serious matters into arguments over whose team or side is better.

"A little?" The parties aren't even on the same planet at the moment, let alone able to see eye to eye. Let's just hope that they manage to overcome their differences and get stuff done--and soon.

Haha, a political system that allows for dissenting voices?
Are you talking about the same one that is run by corporate agenda and where it's next to impossible to form a third political party?
Parties were never even supposed to exist when the Constitution was written, but for better or for worse humans like to lump together.

Dissenting voices of the Civil Rights,Women's Lib and Gay Rights Movements. Same thing with Occupy and the Tea Party Movements. Eventually the voices are heard.
The internet is stronger than any corporate agenda. It is the only way to bypass the money and get a message directly to the people. I am not talking about a candidate's mass media campaign but an initial grass roots movement that grows and spreads organically bypassing the traditional process.
I don't see the need for a third party if the tents are big enough. Our two parties are partly the result of decades of consolidation. I believe a third party would either wither away or grow larger, become one of the big two and dissolve the shrinking party.

We don't need a one-party system. We need a no-party system. That is, where each individual runs for public office as an individual person, not a part of a greater whole of a party.

Labeling someone stupid is also based on your perception. I don't think your stupid. I'm not stupid. All the people are not stupid.

Don’t get me wrong I feel corruption and lobbyist are the biggest problem facing our government today. However, there is a difference between what we have allowed our government to become and what it was intended to be.
At its core our political system (dysfunctional as it is) is about bringing together the wants and needs of a diverse group of people and finding the common ground they all share to create a governmental consensus. Now the lobbyist may get in the way of that process, but people allow it to happen by not holding our politicians accountable or staying informed.
