Description
Someone cut my internet wire so I had a lot of free time. And an idea of a twisted forest was sitting in my mind for a while so it took me just several days to focus on this idea.Related content

This is some very nice pixel art.
Most of my negative feedback will mainly be asking questions, or suggesting better ways to make things more visually appealing.
The color scheme is very well balanced, having only a few yellows/reds to accent the blue and green tree-scape.
The cascading level of detail is also very nice; bringing attention to the foreground, while having nice details in the background. The level of texture captures the eye very quickly. The form of the person, squirrels, branches, leaves, and birds are also well done for the style.
Now for the negatives:
There are "scratches" going across the tree where the man and squirrels are. There aren't any marks like these on any other part of the tree. Is this suppose to be where that creature on the left has been before?
There is one "bird" on a branch in the background. Is this actually a bird? I'm unsure because the "wing" shape is much different from the other birds that are flying.
I think that the branch is obscuring the roundness of the moon a little too much. You could've changed the branch layout to accentuate the moon, or make a nice "moonset" type of thing.
Why are there two mushrooms in the foreground? Why aren't there more all around the tree? It's a bit strange.
These last two are my more serious negative points.
The pair of eyes on the left are somewhat confusing. I didn't notice them until about 5 minutes into writing this. Are they suppose to be a main focus? I don't get the feeling that this is a compilation piece, where there are tens or hundreds of different focuses to a piece, so I think it should either be moved or gotten rid of. As far as keeping it, you could move it more to the center, but put it further back in the blue and fade it out like you did to the birds. Or, you could add a few more eyes around the treeline, giving the feeling of a pack of animals.
Finally, the main trunk of the tree doesn't make sense in either proper tree anatomy, or accentuating the points of attention for the viewer. I think this was a huge missed opportunity to perfect the composition.

Answering question, all the small details in the middle are there just to grab your attention and focus. The birds could be any kind of flying creatures, that doesn't really matter, at least to me.
I'm surprised you don't like the fact you noticed a hunter hiding in the woods so late. Actually I'm very happy you didn't notice him earlier and that's exactly what I wanted
