Description
This is something Steve has been afraid of ever since Erskine offered him a gift: Sometimes, gifts are taken back.Bruce is torn between helping the Captain and trying to find a solution for himself.
And Tony ... orders Jarvis to record every move tiny Steve makes. For security reasons, obviously. The pictures he takes with his cell phone will be just for blackmail. But he still cares a whole lot (as you can probably tell looking at Steve).
This idea is not exactly new, I have read some amazing fanfic using it, and it hasn't left me alone.
Painted in Photoshop, Bamboo Tablet, approx. 30 hours.

Aww, little Steve is so cute and sad. Does Steve have all health problems he'd had before the serum? Why is Jarvis recording all of Steve's moves for security purposes? I can understand if it's to keep track of Steve's health so he knows if something's wrong like he's having an asthma attack or something goes wrong with his heart.Β I wonder if Jarvis can keep track of his vitals.

Love this so much!Β I honestly wonder how long it was before Steve stopped waking every morning and wondering if he'd find himself serum-less...or if he ever has.

I think he still wakes up sometimes, like from a nightmare, slightly disoriented and thinking he is back to his old self. Or sometimes feel like he's about to get an asthma attack until he remembers that he doesn't anymore. Or be somewhat surprised by his mirror image because he was lost in a memory and sees himself reflected somewhere. Those things.

I totally agree.Β He's about a year out of the ice in the Arrow crossover (crackfic, I know) I'm working on,Β and I wrote a scene in which he loaned a spare jacket toΒ Felicity, whom he'sΒ taking out for a ride.Β And, of course, it's *huge* on her and he has to come up with an alternative.Β It's a small thing, but it both surprises him andΒ flusters himΒ a little -- he *knows* he's bigger, but like so many other people who've significantly changed their bodies (usually people who've lost large amounts of weight) he's not always used to thinking of that size difference in relative terms.Β
Actually, I tend to think there was a lot he didn't expect overall as far as the changes went.Β Oddly, I doubt suddenly being able to run so fast or do all of what he could do really surprised him at the time (though clearly, it takes him aback once the HYDRA agent is dead and he's got a second to think) but
But the change in the way people react to him?Β That would have been huge.Β Not just googly-eyed looks, but the amount of space people give him (since he's larger and more physically intimidating) and drawing more attention than he's used to drawing in social situations.Β I imagine he faded into crowds before.Β Not so easy to do now.

It is. I think he and Bruce would be the closest to tiny Steve's size, and Tony rather sacrifices his shirt than have Steve in one of Bruce's horrendous button-downs. Also to boost the morale and show that it is just a temporary situation and they don't have to get clothes, so he doesn't have to part with it for long. And because he secretly cares.

This idea took hold of me ever since I read it. There's so many feelings I have about this, I can't even say. Steve is such a hero at heart, he'd still be capable to do great things and I know the Avengers wouldn't care (though that probably only is true for the man Tony has grown to become, not the one he was initially). But still, it made my heart ache to read it.
