Chilean Altiplano, hiking "off the tracks" towards Salar de Talar / Salar de Aguas Calientes

Cerro Tuyajto (5482m) in front of us ....

Not a soul around .... Just vastness ....

An epic landscape... strange for me to think that huge expanse of level land is so high up...

the salar (salt lake) are really flat , but the surrounding is not really "level" land, although it is not the same type of shape as in other mountains.

Hiking at 4000m altitude , you feel the difference when it is not "level" (even when not really steep)

I see... yes, I guess it's an effort even getting up low rolling hills when one is at higher altitudes. Not an easy trek, by the look of it.

Beauty , for sure ...

But not any feeling of desolation up there , it was just a strange feeling , mix of calm, endless view, pure air...
