Ah, well it's pretty! I'm not very experienced with stacking quite yet, do you mind explaining the process? Is it like combining pictures into the final product?

Yes it is combining more pictures from the same object into one to get more better signal to noise ratio.
More photos means more details and also eliminating more the noise that you get from long exposures.

Also additionally you add dark frames to eliminate even more the noise, flat frames for the imperfections of the lens and dust on the sensor etc...
So you combine 50-60 pictures to get only 1 in the end!

It is cropped but just a bit to center it, nothing to much.
And of course it is edited as it is stacked out of 20 exposures 6x5min and 14x25sec

very nice pic! i think the nebula is a bit on the purple side, too. maybe you could color-correct it a little towards green/reduce the purple, and the stars would be even less an issue.

Thanks for suggestion. I know the stars bug me also (and really don't know why they came this way) tried to corrected them even before but I didn't liked hot the nebula turned out afterwards.
So I left it this way!

Don't forget The Running Man Nebula Good work Martin Love the field of view of this and you have controlled the core of M42 well. Seems to be a fair amount of purple fringing going on with the stars though.

Yes of course
The purple fringe is from the lens. It is good but still it's leaving a bit of unwanted effects.
