I fell in love with the original photo when I first saw it and wondered how close I could get to capturing her beauty with watercolor. This was the second painting in this series and remains in my personal collection.

You've caught the mood beautifully, but be weary of copying photo's, if they are not your's. I used to do that until I got offered a very large sum of money for one, only to find out that the photo agency wouldn't let me sell it, even after offering a %age.

Thanks and yeah I'm with you there. This was more of a personal project and not intended to sell. However, I did get a nice offer for it . . . I turned it down. It was only my second attempt at wildlife, so I wanted to keep it in my personal collection.

Thank ya kindly. Yeah I think this (updated image) shows the true colors of the painting better than the first one I had on here of this one. It's always tricky for me to get a good photograph of a painting. It seems like the ones with lots of blues and purples are even harder to get to look right on the PC.

Well, having a calibrated monitor is a step, and will ensure you have accurate colour. Will make levels tweaking when preparing a photo for web viewing a little easier

Yeah . . . I should consider doing that . . . especially since I use my PC to display a lot of the images that I'm using for reference while painting them. It just makes it easier . . . I can zoom in on an area to see the details better that way.

Yeah . . . she's done in watercolor, since that's all I had ever worked with at the time, I thought I'd give them a try and see if they would work for something like this.
As I mentioned to someone else recently, this one was done a few years ago and gave me some needed confidence to continue my art in this direction.
